When you do your weekly food shop.
We don't get all the fancy branded organic bits but...
Eggs! Nothing beats a poached burford brown on some seeded bread!

The things we try buy the best of is -
Eggs
Bog roll (absolute must)
And free range meat.

What are your best of the best necessities? Grin

Eggs

Kellogg's corn flakes, the supermarket ones taste awful in comparison.

Heinz tomato ketchup, nothing else comes close.

Other than that I'm quite flexible on brands and supermarket own labels.

bigbaggyeyes · 24/09/2021 11:48

Tea bags
Fabric softener
Dog food

Softpebbles · 24/09/2021 11:51

Alpro Almond milk
Heinz ketchup

Always used to like heinz beans but hey have gone a bit runny so we prefer sainsburys own now!

INeedNewShoes · 24/09/2021 11:53

Eggs
Meat - free range / outdoor bred
Dairy - I try to buy milk that pays the farmer more fairly than the cheapest supermarket milk

ufucoffee · 24/09/2021 11:58

Used to buy expensive bog roll then discovered Asda shades bog roll. Exactly the same quality as Andrex

Staryflight445 · 24/09/2021 12:03

Fruit/ soup and ready meals have to come from M&S.

(Dont eat many ready meals unless necessary though)

Not really fussed about anything else.

PeterPomegranate · 24/09/2021 12:04

Tracklements Mayo
Grass fed organic butter
Organic milk
Organic eggs
Punjana tea bags (husband from NI so it’s a taste of home)

Am trying out cheaper washing up liquid and washing powder and they’re fine so far. Maybe need a squirt more washing up liquid but it’s so much cheaper.

BlueberrySugar · 24/09/2021 12:06

I just buy Asda toilet roll or Lidl own. Same as Andrex but half the price. I refuse to pay £12+ for a pack of 24 loo rolls to literally wipe my bottom.

BlueberrySugar · 24/09/2021 12:06

Also always Heinz Mayo and ketchup.

NotAnotherPylon · 24/09/2021 12:07

Cherry tomatoes. I like them to have an actual flavour. Some of the cheaper ones are the right size and colour, but that's as close as they get to being tomatoes! Same with strawberries.

ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 24/09/2021 12:08

Tomatoes
Washing up liquid
Mayo

RosesAndHellebores · 24/09/2021 12:11

Ketchup

Pasta
Coffee
Tinned toms
Soap powder
Dishwasher tablets

Tonic
Meat
Cat food (mine won't touch lily's though)

grapewine · 24/09/2021 12:14

Pink Lady apples or no apples
Proper toilet roll
Washing powder without perfume etc

queenofarles · 24/09/2021 12:16

Meat/poultry.
Eggs.
Tea. I tried getting cheaper brands like twinnings ,
But they just don’t taste the same,
Candles , again have tried cheaper alternative they just don’t smell as good.
chocolates Blush,
flour ,
Butter
On the other hand I find supermarket own brand cheese and yogurt far better than expensive ones so maybe that evens things out Grin

PurpleHydrangea1 · 24/09/2021 12:17

Meat - always comes from our local butcher who rears their own
Shoes
Car seats
Yoghurt - has to be Yeo Valley or Llaeth y Llan

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/09/2021 12:18

Childrens bikes. I think you do get what you pay for.

My bike however is a 20yo Ridgeback, mens style, long overdue for a service. Grin
