Anyone fancy joining me for Ocsober?

If so, we could make this into a support thread and maybe list ideas for non alcoholic drinks, good films and tv programmes to watch etc.

It was weird, it was hard getting ready and when everyone was drinking their pre dinner drinks. But once I’d eaten I was actually fine. And now I’m so happy I didn’t drink!

Evening all 😁

DD and I have been for a long walk and had home made fish pie for dinner. She's about to go to bed and I will be tucked up in bed with a sleepy tea. No booze in the house, so no chance of drinking for me tonight.

I am hoping to continue to the 2nd weekend in November, to make up for my slip up earlier this month.

Evening all, still going here. Watching TV and chilling. Being at DM's does help a lot. It's good that we are moving here soon.

24 days in I have cracked.

Currently drinking a cold chardonnay.

My mum had a fall in the road yesterday so I had to finish work, take her to the AED where she had x rays and a CT, thankfully she's fine if a bit bruised to both body and ego.
Today is her birthday too. We had dinner at her house with the DC and DS started to cough. Brought him home for an lfd which is the faintest of positives, followed by two definite negatives.

Wine seemed to be the answer to my woes...

I mean it isn't but even so.

@ZednotZee, glad your mum is not worse hurt, but sounds challenging. Not sluprison a cold one was had!

I have also slipped again - a (tinned so fixed measure) bramble G&T yesterday whilst preparing v dinner.
Was quite nice but not that nice. Feel groggy this morning with mega puffy face and eyes. Not worth it!
@FanGirlX, you are doing so well. Great idea to push this into November - can I join you?

FanGirlX · 01/11/2021 20:17

How's everyone doing? A bit of an odd day to finish given it's a Monday.

I'm going to stay dry this coming weekend to make up for my slip up earlier this month.

I slipped again this last weekend - opened a bottle of white after a stressful day. Finished it over 3 nights, and feel worse for it (although was lovely wine).
I’m continuing to try to stay dry as much of November as possible!

We did it!

And not missed it either really. There is whiskey in the house but I settled for a fruit tea tonight. Off to have a celebratory pint but we are waiting until Thursday when we are kid free. Hopefully we have slipped out of a habit of drinking nightly at home now.

FanGirlX · 02/11/2021 06:52

Well I've lost 1.5kgs, which is ok given I haven't made any other changes.

I've identified my main trigger is stress / worry. So now I have to come up with an alternative to drinking wine if I am stressed / worried.

So I made it through the weekend 😀. Feeling quite proud of myself.
