Whether solo or as a duo.

Paul Simon - Slip Sliding Away and Under African Skies.

Art Garfunkel - I Only Have Eyes For You and Since I Don't Have You.

S&G - The Only Living Boy In New York and A Hazy Shade Of Winter.

I confess I'm not a big fan of Paul Simon's solo stuff. By and large, the two were better as a duo.

It does make you wonder what the next generation will have doesn’t it?

I love My Little Town as I could relate to it so much when I left home to go to London. Slip sliding away as well.

59th Bridge Street song
At the zoo
America

Not a big fan of their solo songs

b Mysteries,
in the UK, copyright arises automatically. It wouldn't arise in the song itself but in the arrangement and if Martin Carthy wrote the arrangement, then the copyright belongs to him. If PS then copied it, Carthy could have prevented him.

@ssd

I was 12 when I saw it one the TV.
I rode my bike to town thru country lanes to buy it.

In a carrier bag on my handlebars.

I love it so!

Journeyofthedragons · 21/09/2021 15:28

Basic choice I know, but Scarborough Fair is an achingly beautiful piece of music.

thesunwillout · 21/09/2021 15:28

@TheSpiral

Those lyrics are just so beautiful.

AngeloMysterioso · 21/09/2021 15:52

The Boxer, The Sound of Silence and their version of Silent Night.

GobbledyGeek · 21/09/2021 16:56

Sound of Silence
El Condor Pasa
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Scarborough Fair
Silent Night
The Boxer
America

99 Miles from LA
Bright Eyes
I Only Have Eyes for You

Apart from Cecilia, I can’t think of a song of theirs that I don’t like.

Thunderface · 21/09/2021 17:02

I'm a huge Paul Simon fan. It's difficult for me to choose.

Hearts and Bones and Still Crazy after all These Years are definitely up there. I love The Boxer too.

Graceland is one of my favourite albums.

Thunderface · 21/09/2021 17:07

Forgot Late in the Evening! Love that one.

hels71 · 21/09/2021 17:21

Simon and Garfunkel - America, The Boxer, and Baby Driver. Paul Simon - 50 ways to leave your lover.

TheSpiral · 21/09/2021 17:52

I used to read this guy's blog, he has written his analysis of every single Paul Simon song. I don't agree with his interpretation of some, but I like to hear what other people think they are about!

Actually I say he, it might be a woman, I just assumed it was a bloke - I can't actually remember!

elQuintoConyo · 21/09/2021 17:59

horse I didn't know what whores were when I was 11, so it was 'horse'. Neither did I know what a 'come-on' was, so that whole line was nonsensical to me. I thought it might have been a police horse Grin

PermanentTemporary · 21/09/2021 18:00

Fascinating blog @TheSpiral. Hmm it seems likely it's a bloke to me too...

Mischance · 21/09/2021 18:03

Old Friends....
....sat on their park bench like bookends .....

So clever, so perceptive.

S & G were the soundtrack of my youth and make me cry when I hear them.

borntobequiet · 21/09/2021 18:08

Thanks for a nice thread. Paul Simon: The Coast

kierenthecommunity · 21/09/2021 18:10

The horse Wink was also on Seventh Avenue not Second Grin

Preserve those memories, they're all that's left you...

Brings a lump to my throat every time.

Thanks to this thread I had a lovely time singing along in my car on the way home from work. Luckily I had sunglasses because the lyrics and those gorgeous harmonies make me cry.

Hotchick1972 · 21/09/2021 20:47

Sound of silence - cover by ‘disturbed’ is a very different take
It makes the hairs on my entire body stand up - very emotional

CosmicComfort · 21/09/2021 20:50

The Boxer
The sound of silence

Both songs just give me chills, every single time I hear them.

Scarby9 · 21/09/2021 20:53

So many possible choices!
Kathy's Song, maybe?
Sound of Silence?

Imaginethis · 21/09/2021 21:00

The Boxer, with some of my favourite lines

“All lies and jest
Still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest “
