Is there any way to smuggle alcohol into a cinema

The cinemas in my local city doesn't serve alcoholic drinks. I'm not an alcoholic by the way.

I was waiting for the James bond movie for a long time but covid came and it didn't come out. Its been a long year filled with so much shit. I'm not an alcoholic by the way. I do practice drink safety. I don't drink to get drunk. I would like to have some drinks when I go to the cinema. I want to pack my handbag with a bottle with me in my handbag. I want to enjoy some drinks while watching the movie to relax and unwind. I won't be falling out the door drunk.

Last time I was in the cinema my bag was checked or my handbag was taken off me.

Never ever had my bag searched going into a cinema. All the ones near me sell alcohol.

ParkheadParadise · 20/09/2021 21:03

It's a day out for me, a trip to the cinema 🤪🤪 I like to relax with my wine, jelly babies and chocolate. If I was at home I would do the same thing.
I used to take booze to weddings 💒 👰 in my bag if it was a posh place and the measures are shite🥂🥂 I thought everyone done that.

I’ve never had a bag searched on the way in. I’d be appalled at the suggestion. I’ve never smuggled in booze (missed opportunity there) but I do take snacks. Cinema already costs £££ I’m not buying food there.

There used to be a lovely cinema downstairs at the Scotsman hotel in Edinburgh. All leather armchairs and classic films. I’d mooch down with a Manhattan from the bar. It was lovely completely ruined me for commercial cinemas. No trailers, no talkers, no rustlers, no children.

If I went to see a James Bond movie and they tipped my bag out, I would be a little shaken, but not at all stirred.

Alwaysblowingballoonsup · 20/09/2021 21:07

Put it in a small bottle? 7up/water etc. That’s what I used to do, not drank for nearly two years now. Or have a couple of glasses before you go in with a meal out or whatever

Never had my bag checked in any cinema.
I don't believe it's against any rules to bring your own drinks and snacks. Put it in a Pepsi bottle and have fun.

AnneElliott · 20/09/2021 21:16

I smuggle in cheaper chocolate! Bottom of the bag underneath a jumper is my tactic. Get a small screw top bottle of wine and that ought to do it!

I've never know anybody do that. Seems very bold!
NeverDropYourMooncup · 20/09/2021 21:18

Could you not go to the pub after the movie?

That's what people who aren't alcoholics but would like a drink normally do if the cinema doesn't allow it.

Saves you faffing around like a 15 year old trying to get cheap vodka into their Maths lesson. Or disturbing everybody with bottles clanking in a Sainbury's carrier.

Sparklfairy · 20/09/2021 21:18

I like a drink as much as the next person but I couldn't do booze in the cinema.

Years ago I went to an Odeon which delivered wine to your seat! I thought it was brilliant until I had to pee at crucial moments of the Dark Knight Rises Hmm plus the novelty of it meant that the third glass of wine ... well, my memory of the ending is hazy Blush

Kanaloa · 20/09/2021 21:20

Most cinemas serve beer and wine??? I don't think I've ever been to one that does. Our local arts centre has a bar and you can take drinks into poetry readings and the like, but not to the cinema. The Everyman does, as someone noted above, but it's a theatre more than a cinema. I've never seen any of the big commercial cinemas, Odeon etc. sell alcohol.

Odeons all sell alcohol. Small bottles of wine, beers etc. It’s in a little fridge behind the retail counter. I’m not sure about vue but I presume they do as well.!

Thatsplentyjack · 20/09/2021 21:20

Are you drunk now OP?

OnTheBoardwalk · 20/09/2021 21:22

I went to 80s festival in Aug. Last time they checked bags and tapped us down for alcohol coming in to arena from campsite. This year they said they couldn’t touch us or our belongings cos Covid

I can’t drink while watching a film I’ll be asleep and won’t remember the ending. Def don’t want that at cinema prices

Dunrovi · 20/09/2021 21:23

Our local Cineworld checks bags on Friday and Saturday nights, or at least they did before the panic (haven't been since). Not sure if they're looking for alcohol, knives or guns; could be any of those round here (London) Grin

Panic = pandemic

Confess! Confess your sins OP! Jack will forgive you if you throw yourself upon their mercy Wine

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 20/09/2021 21:26

@CloseYourEyesAndSee

People who say 'I'm not an alcoholic by the way' twice whilst planning now to smuggle a bottle of wine into the cinema might want to examine their relationship with alcohol just a little bit more closely
The op was probably just trying to see off the inevitable goofy fuckers on here making sanctimonious little comments about why they need pet to have a glass of wine to enjoy the cinema.

Just like you did in fact 🙄

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 20/09/2021 21:26

I always take my own food and drinks (non alcoholic) in because cinema food is so stupidly expensive.
I have never had anything checked.

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 20/09/2021 21:27

Hip flask and an inner pocket to your jacket is the way to go, OP. Or a large waistband,

eekbumbler · 20/09/2021 21:34

@Thatsplentyjack

Are you drunk now OP?
Battered.

Warming up you see.

tsmainsqueeze · 20/09/2021 21:38

Buy a couple of screw top capri sun , wash out with soapy water ,allow to drain , add alcohol of choice , chill in fridge .
Very flexible packaging which will fit into pockets , under jumper etc.

Confusedandshaken · 20/09/2021 21:38

@TheQueef

Drink outside before the film. Then have a game with yourself how many minutes you stayed awake.
This would be me. My local Odeon doesn't check bags so I have occasionally turned up with a plastic cup and a couple of mini bottles of wine from the local M&S. Luckily I've only done it for films I already knew the plot because it always sends me to sleep.
