DS says school friend likes fairies. She seems quite grown up on the few occasions I've seen her before/ after school. Has has an older sister. So is this too playmobil too young for a 6th birthday gift for her party? I only want to spend about £10.

Is this playmobil too young for a 6th birthday gift ?

I'd think playmobil is too young

MinnieMountain · 19/09/2021 16:41

DS was considering asking for more Playmobil for his 8th birthday this year. It’s a good toy.

BlackberryMuncher · 19/09/2021 16:43

I think that particular set is, yes.

What about some of the fairy books? Or some kiddie jewellery?

Stompythedinosaur · 19/09/2021 16:43

Not at all. I think playmobil is great at that age. My kids interest tailed off around 8-9.

stripeymonster · 19/09/2021 16:48

No - that looks fine to me. My 9 year old still plays with hers. Her games with playmobil just become more developed as she gets older.

Yeah I think you are right, I have such a hard time judging stuff, even for other boys the same age as Ds, as they are all into different things at different times.

I don't think Playmobil is too young at 6.

My DS loves his Playmobil, has a huge collection which he plays with daily. Mainly animals, wildlife, farm, etc. He's 7.5.
DD has only really stopped playing with hers (she liked the historical sets and has the pyramid and a riding stables) in the last year, she's 12.5. Even now she can be pulled into games with DS. She would have loved a fairy/unicorn related sept until about 9.

2andahalfpints · 19/09/2021 17:11

I think this is fine for a 6yo. You could get a fairy garden set for around that price too if you are unsure.

Comedycook · 19/09/2021 17:12

I've bought my dd Playmobil for her 11th birthday.

Seems really sad to me that anyone would think 6 is too old for it

Concestor · 19/09/2021 21:19

I think it's perfect. Mine still love Playmobil and their are 7 and 12

purplebatbear · 19/09/2021 21:21

No. Not at all. Playmobil is fantastic toy at that age.

scully29 · 19/09/2021 21:21

I think thats perfect, my 6 yr old would love that

ThePlantsitter · 19/09/2021 21:27

I think it's lovely for a 6 yr old and Playmobil is too fiddly for much younger than that, but if you're worried you could try a papo fairy figure or a schleich one (£££ though)

Madcats · 19/09/2021 21:34

If you are hesitating, there are a gazillion books of fairy stories in a series called Rainbow Magic.

They might need to be bedtime story books at age 6.

scully29 · 19/09/2021 21:43

Rainbow magic is also v loved by my 6 year old.

Janaih · 19/09/2021 21:48

My 10 yo niece still plays with playmobil. As a pp said, the level of play just develops with age.

stormelf · 19/09/2021 21:49

I would've thought Playmobil would be ideal for a 6 year old. My eldest is and still seems to young for that kind of toy. I remember my nephew playing on with Playmobil until he was 8 or 9

Hamsteronrollerblades · 19/09/2021 21:51

Mine still asked for playmobile right up to 10+. It’s not too young. Makes me a bit sad that people would worry it was.

NuffSaidSam · 19/09/2021 21:55

Playmobil is not too young for a 6 year old. Sad that people think it is.

The Rainbow Magic books shouldn't be bought unless she can read them to herself (which she may be able to at 6) because they are the biggest pile of shite ever and no parent should be forced to read them. Do bear the parents in mind when choosing a gift!

Fabbydabbydoozey · 19/09/2021 21:56

What age is it for then?! I think it’s for a 6 year old.

purpleme12 · 19/09/2021 21:56

No it's not too young at 6 at all!

Edieunion · 19/09/2021 22:02

My eldest is 12 and still plays with it!

Alwayswonderedwhy · 19/09/2021 22:05

I'd say that's perfect for a 6 yr old but mine all played with Playmobil until they were 11-12

Goldenbear · 19/09/2021 22:06

My daughter is playing with her playmobil and she is 10. She likes Playmobil City now but still loves it.

toomuchfaster · 19/09/2021 22:09

DD is 7 and getting more Playmobil for Christmas as is DN who is 10. I can't imagine why people think it's for young children.
