DS says school friend likes fairies. She seems quite grown up on the few occasions I've seen her before/ after school. Has has an older sister. So is this too playmobil too young for a 6th birthday gift for her party? I only want to spend about £10.

All my dc loved play mobil.
A 6year old is not too old for it surely. There’s lots of small parts with play mobil, so I would have thought 6 yrs + is ideal.
My 12 yr old has only just parted with her huge collection.

I'm considering quite a big kit for my almost 9yo's birthday - she saw it in Costco and was quite keen, and still plays with all of hers.

My 5yo would flipping love that set, frankly.

Bunnycat101 · 19/09/2021 22:18

Does she have a lot of other playmobil? If so I think it would go well with existing toys but might not be the best as a standalone. My 5yo has loved her fairy garden set or maybe some fairy books?

It’s so hard to judge with kids. I’ve seen a few posts from other 5/6yos giving away toys they’ve outgrown that mine still adores.

It's aimed at that age group. I think it's quite sad anyone would think children would be to old for it the day they turn 6!

CoffeeRunner · 19/09/2021 22:24

Playmobil is perfect for a 6 year old. My DD still loved it at that age.

purpleme12 · 19/09/2021 22:25

Only 2 people on here have said it's too young Everyone else has said it's good for this age.
(Although OP has responded to one saying it's too young)
I really hope OP goes back and realises it's not too young for that age group. Whether that particular child would like it is another thing but it's no way too young for a 6 year old!

CiaoForNiao · 19/09/2021 22:27

6 is the perfect age for playmobil. How sad that anyone thinks otherwise.
We only put DSs away last year. He was 14 and has actually kept a couple of his "favourite" people on his shelf.

Caliexpidocioussuper · 19/09/2021 22:29

My 9 year old still loves Playmobil and plays with it often. That set is fine for a 6 year old.

Maflingo · 19/09/2021 22:29

My dd is around that age and has lots of playmobil. Having said that, I think the specific set mentioned is quite a basic/simple one (age range is 4+) and there are other fairy themed playmobil items that might be more appealing?

Twinstudy · 19/09/2021 22:30

I'm confused what age Playmobil is for if 6 is too old! Surely 6/7/8 is people Playmobil age. Or I'm sure it was a million years ago when I was that age!

Twinstudy · 19/09/2021 22:31

Prime not people!

AnnaSW1 · 19/09/2021 22:35

That set is, yes

ohthatbloodycat · 19/09/2021 22:57

I think k it looks great!
The Lego Friends range is also very popular with young girls.

MuckyPlucky · 19/09/2021 23:36

My DS is 10 going on 11 & still loves his Playmobil!

@NuffSaidSam

Playmobil is not too young for a 6 year old. Sad that people think it is.

The Rainbow Magic books shouldn't be bought unless she can read them to herself (which she may be able to at 6) because they are the biggest pile of shite ever and no parent should be forced to read them. Do bear the parents in mind when choosing a gift!

I agree, DD only started with Playmobil when she was 5, strange to think that 6 is deemed too old.

Rainbow Magic - I am utterly convinced that these books are computer generated. DD got a set as a gift once which was neatly tucked away until she could read it herself. There was never a fairy with her nam - bad mummy.

purplebatbear · 26/09/2021 22:16

Hope you went for Playmobil! It's a brilliant toy and absolutely not too young. As a teacher I have to say I detest the Rainbow Magic books. They are very poorly written.
