Hello Fresh

Has anyone tried this? Had a 60% off deal through the door and decided to give it a go out of curiosity. I can honestly say I am really impressed. I am quite a keen cook and didn't think that Hello Fresh would have any recipe ideas I hadn't done before. However, the recipes and food were lovely and ingredients great quality. I think if you pay full price though, it is probably more expensive than I am willing to pay. I have got 35% off for 3 weeks, so I am planning to order some more boxes. When it goes to full price, I will cancel. I have kept all of the recipes from my box to make myself but much more cheaply!

We get a box about once a month or every two months. There's no need to cancel as you don't need to take a box every week.

Notthisnotthat · 17/09/2021 19:34

We had 3 boxes delivered on a deal! The recipes were fine but the quality of the meat and fresh produce wasn't the best and not worth paying the full amount for.

We’re Gousto fans - prefer the choice over Hello Fresh.

I liked the recipes But something was either missing or poor quality at least once a week.

Teaandcakeordeath83 · 17/09/2021 19:41

Much prefer guosto here as its way better for plant based. We had one hello fresh box and they managed to miss half the ingredients out so I never used the remaining offer as it was just inconvenient having to go to the shop to get the replacement stuff- the whole point for me was going to the shop less. 😂

HetHetHet · 17/09/2021 19:43

My first box arrives tomorrow - it was free plus 3 more each with £15 off which I may or may not take depending tomorrow's offerings.

I got the offer via confused.com when I took out car insurance and wouldn't have tried it otherwise.

It was disappointing that the majority of the nicer meals had a surcharge per person so I actually ended up paying £13 for my "free" box to have the meals I wanted. 🤨 Lots were sold out too.

Ikeeponkeepingon · 17/09/2021 19:46

I found gousto better. Simply cook, which is just packs of sauces/stocks/spices is by far and away the best though. Still have to get your own main ingredients but that makes it a bit more flexible and the boxes keep for ages.

TheOldOakTree223 · 17/09/2021 19:49

I hadn't heard of Gousto or Simply Cook. Think I will hunt them down and try them as well as I am on a roll!

Tried both, prefer Gousto, I still go back to Gousto regularly
There are plenty of Gousto codes around, happy to share a link so you get 60% off box 1 and 30% off the rest if the month
Have recently started having Pasta Evangelist for a change , can also recommend

Londonista123 · 17/09/2021 19:57

I’ve tried both HF and Gousto and like PP much preferred the latter - fresher ingredients (both are fine really, but more blunders with HF over the course of a year), more veggie options, more Asian-style meals with complex flavours that I definitely wouldn’t manage to whip up myself, and they have a “Prepped in 10” or something range of very quick tasty meals.

If you want a voucher/referral code for Gousto here’s mine (60% off first box then 30% off after) - Gousto code

Loving hellofresh. Need to freezer the meat immediately and take each day's out the night before or it doesn't last. The spring onions are often rubbish. But otherwise it's amazing. Love the recipes, the flavours. The app is good too.

I have a few free boxes links to send so if anyone wants to try it then PM me your email addy and I will send you a link for a free box! Tell me on this thread though as I use the app and won't know if you just pm without letting me know Grin

I love Hello Fresh! I've been using it for most of this year, it's made my life so much easier, and I've lost weight using it too - probably because I don't drop into the supermarket and pick up rubbish nearly so often! And knowing that you have everything you need to cook in one bag is so reassuring.

If anyone wants to try it, I've got a code for £46 off - click here to use it - https://www.hellofresh.co.uk/pages/raflp11?c=HS-F4Q0042YZ&utmmcampaign=native-share-panel&utmcouponvalue=42&utmminvitername=Helen&utmmedium=referral&utmm_source=raf-share

Sorry couldn't work out how to do a clicky link!

Ikeeponkeepingon · 17/09/2021 20:16

simplycook.com/invite/4789?via=app simply cook free box if you would like one OP.

DarkSideOfTheGym · 17/09/2021 20:24

I have used both hello fresh & Gousto & really like them. Even the kids enjoy cooking from the recipe card sometimes.

I used it a lot last year but cancelled as it is quite expensive. However if you cancel they do fairly frequently send you offers for 30% off which I use and then cancel again Grin

Janaih · 17/09/2021 20:26

Love hello fresh and gousto. Its no exaggeration to say they've changed my life 😁

I use Hello Fresh every week .. it has advantages and disadvantages.
Above is a discount code for £46 off ... for clarity yes I get a referral discount!

pinkchampagne1 · 17/09/2021 20:31

We have both Hello Fresh and Gousto. I much prefer Gousto though. Far more choice and the quality seems better.
If you fancy giving it a go, this code will give you 60% off your first box and 30% off any further boxes ordered in your first month.

TheVolturi · 17/09/2021 20:33

We tried our recently. The quality of the veg in particular was terrible. We actually got half a carrot! And a shrivelled black one. And the odd thing missing. I mean come on! But I will say that the food when cooked was delicious. However it has made me think I just need to look online at some recipes and buy the stuff myself. It's very expensive at full price.

SalsaLove · 17/09/2021 20:35

We love Hello Fresh. Have it 4 nights a week and it’s great for a couple who don’t want to waste food. But sometimes they get it wrong, different ingredients than what we’ve ordered.

PurpleDaisies · 17/09/2021 20:38

Occasionally I get something poor quality or missing from HF but they’re good for giving a credit worth much more than buying the bad thing would cost. We hand one every school holidays as a treat. It has improved my range of recipes.

HummingBeeBox · 17/09/2021 21:53

We have the discount too and I agree it wouldn't be good value at full price. I have also been really impressed and when this code runs out I will try Gousto and also Mindful Chef

SinoohXaenaHide · 17/09/2021 22:01

We did the same as you OP - subscribed while it was discounted then cancelled and kept the recipe cards - which we still use a couple of years later. Plus you can always see other recipes on their website and tbh they do repeat similar things quite regularly value for money gets lower with time too. It's a nice service and probably good for some but not long term.

TheOldOakTree223 · 17/09/2021 22:02

Thanks everyone for all the links for discounts. I will definitely be using some of these!

Well on the back of this thread and a glass or three of wine I’ve just signed up and ordered Gousto 🙈 thank you for the discount code flowers 💐 I’m in need of inspiration when it comes to meals as these days seem to rotate the same old recipes/meals and it’s getting boring so going to see how this goes!

FuckmyHead · 18/09/2021 00:56

Thank you @pinkchampagne1 for the discount code 💐
