Need a bra for doing yoga, 32HH

tectonicplates · 15/09/2021 23:22

If you're a size 32HH in sports bras, what do you wear to do yoga? I would like a non-underwired bra to slouch around in.

I've tried two different Shock Absorber bras in the past, they were terrible and I hated them. I do have the classic non-underwired one from Panache that I use for exercise, but although it's supportive, it's far too bulky for yoga as I need to do lots of twists and turns.

Please note I'm looking for a specific bra, not a shop, so please, no "Why don't you go to Brav/Rigby/John Lewis etc, as I'm going to be buying online.

And yes, I am wearing the right fucking size and I know how a properly fitting bra is supposed to look, so please, this is not the thread for you to get on your soapbox ;)

Have a look on boobydoo as they have lots of brands

tectonicplates · 15/09/2021 23:24

I'm currently using a very old Freya Active bra that isn't made any more, and anyway it only goes up to H so I'm kind of falling out of it.

Been there, done that. That's why I'm looking for recommendations for a specific bra. I bought the Shock Absorber bras from Boobydoo (a couple of years ago) and I hated them.

I have these but go up a back size and down a cup size (am 28J in most but buy 30HH in these). It’s so secure I can run marathons and do sprint training in it, it’s completely bomb proof. Not sure how you feel about the “bulkiness” but this is what I need as a runner with rather large norks!

HummingBeeBox · 15/09/2021 23:28

Bravissimo have a yoga bra. It goes up to H, may work. Looks nice

user1471548941 · 15/09/2021 23:29

Sorry completely forgot to add that there is an underwired version on Bravissimo also soon as that’s what you’re after!!!!

I have also tried Royce bras in the past and sadly they just don't have anywhere near enough support. I found them very flimsy.

I just wear the panache underwired for everything as I don't find anything else is supportive enough (36GG)

tectonicplates · 15/09/2021 23:33

@user1471548941 As I already mentioned, I have tried the Panache ones and they are far too bulky for doing yoga. They just get in the way. I already have the underwired version for high impact stuff.

It's more like a GG/H (I had a look) but I really need a HH, and a lot of the reviews say it's almost like a halterneck. The Shock Absorber ones already pull on my neck so that's what I'm trying to get away from.

Have you tried freya? I've got a couple of underwired ones but had to go up in the cup

tectonicplates · 15/09/2021 23:40

@dementedpixie Ah, yes the Freya Dynamic looks like a possibility, thank you. The one I have at the moment is a Freya bra, just that it's very old and worn out, and is a size too small. I'm impressed that Freya are making a non-underwired one up to J, as the Panache one stops at H.

I'm a 34G and for yoga/barre ie when I need to move but no jumping or bouncing, I wear this bra in size L from Amazon - you will probably need an XL. There are cups but easily removed if you don't like them: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/YIANNA-Strappy-Wirefree-Running-UK-YA-BRA147-Black-L/dp/B07TPSFKXH?pdrddw=Oqhqo&pfrddp=72bd67d1-fcfe-4eb1-b188-74959eded5f8&pfrddr=WTHJMAE3M9PHKQP1ACGZ&pdrddr=d06e38d0-5aad-4ba5-900f-28cec1c2cc6f&pdrddwg=McHWZ&pdrddi=B07TPSFKXH&psc=1&ref=pddbapmmrp11_sc

Xiaoxiong · 15/09/2021 23:44

It says high impact/running on the description, you can safely ignore that - it's definitely not suitable for running, much more for yoga for women of our figures!

tectonicplates · 15/09/2021 23:44

@Xiaoxiong But how do you put it on?!

OP posts:
Polkadotties · 15/09/2021 23:45

I am unsure what you mean by panache bras making you bulky. At 32G my breasts are bulky.

Xiaoxiong · 15/09/2021 23:46

It's stretchy and all one piece. You just pull it over your head, adjust the norks, and get on with your downward facing dog Grin

Changechangychange · 15/09/2021 23:48

You are complete right about Shock Absorber, they are a really weird fit once you go over a certain size (I was a 30F pre-baby and lived in them, but am a 32G now and have had to find something else).

I use the panache wired sports bra for everything - if you find it bulky, have you tried the panache non-wired ones?

tectonicplates · 15/09/2021 23:49

@Polkadotties Because the bras are bulky and thick and take up a lot of space? I'm not sure what there is to not understand. Especially as I need to do lots of twists and things.

@Xiaoxiong I'll be giving it a miss, thanks Grin. But it was interesting to have a look.

The underwired one is very… “rigid”. It is like wearing an armoured breastplate. It does the job but there is no denying it is very obtrusive.
tectonicplates · 15/09/2021 23:51

@Changechangychange. Yes. I already have the Panache non-underwired one and it's too bulky. And I have the underwired one for high impact stuff. Plus, I've noticed that the underwired one is more generous in size compared to the non-underwired one, and considering the non-underwired one stops at H, it's not great for downward dogs anyway.

OP posts:
Bobsyer · 15/09/2021 23:54

The Candy bra from Bravissimo might fit the bill? It’s supportive without being restrictive and is not underwired.

Not really sure what you might do in yoga though!

I’m a 36HH and have the XL which is a bit big so an M or L might be better for you to try. Size down if not sure so it’s nice and snug round the rib cage.

Heatherington · 15/09/2021 23:54

If you’re very rich, look at Kinflyte. I love mine and wear them always.

The bras themselves aren’t particularly expensive but they ship from the US and you’ll need to pay import duties too. (And you’ll need to message them asking for them to ship to the U.K. because they don’t offer it on their website anymore.)

Bobsyer · 15/09/2021 23:58

This one: www.bravissimo.com/products/non-wired-bra-ce101/#pink-ce101pnk

Although I notice they actually have what they’re calling a yoga bra: www.bravissimo.com/products/non-wired-bra-ce101/#pink-ce101pnk doesn’t go to a HH but might be worth a go.
