Mine is smoking

I said I would never smoke and now at 32, I havent.

I was tempted as an older teen because at the time, everyone seemed to be doing it and I wondered why it was so popular, but now I’m glad I didn’t. It’s more common for people to not smoke now

Have children. Announced I wasn't going to aged about 11 and never changed my mind.

NichyNoo · 11/09/2021 17:11

Change my name upon marriage. Came under a lot of pressure to do so but stood my ground.

leavesthataregreen · 11/09/2021 17:13

Vote Conservative. I used to get told, 'Oh you'll get more right wing as you get older.' Or 'wait til you earn a lot and don't want high tax.' Hasn't happened and I'm almost at retirement.

BrokenBananaTantrum · 11/09/2021 17:15

Have a 2nd child. Traumatic birth with my son. Everyone said I would forget the trauma and have another. I'm now too old for another and I am so glad I never did

sillylittleprincesspants · 11/09/2021 17:20

@rhonddacynontaf how do you deal with Father Christmas?
My mum took not lying to literal lengths and I had no Father Christmas which I actually found sad despite being similar to what you describe being as a dc so I've gone all out cot the lie of FC and am enjoying it but dreading the day my dc who is most likely autistic finds out what's what.

My mum was also autistic though so her literal 'never lie' could actually be pretty tough at times too so I'm different from your approach and won't bluntly declare the truth in certain circumstances. Just interested really as to if you think it's better to tell the truth about Santa or not.

When I was around 12 or 13, I had to read Cider With Rosie at school, and when it was over I promised myself I would never read another word by Laurie Lee.

Over two decades later, doing an English degree, one of the set pieces of reading for a seminar was a chapter from a Laurie Lee book. So I skipped that section of the reading, and unluckily happened to be called on in the seminar to give an opinion on that particular piece. Thankfully the lecturer was understanding of my stance on Laurie Lee 🤣

'Have children. Announced I wasn't going to aged about 11 and never changed my mind.'

High five! Came on to say the same, although I was 19 when I decided and BOY have I had some wobbles along the way, but nearly 42 now and as happy as I can be with my decision

ufucoffee · 11/09/2021 17:23

Have a relationship with a married man. I've never been that desperate.

Marni83 · 11/09/2021 17:25

@AnyFucker

Did you see @crispsinasandwich source for her John Grisham story?! Grin

igotdemons · 11/09/2021 17:32

Eat meat and I haven’t since that day (11 years now). My DH still says he can’t believe I’ve stuck to it but I will for the rest of my life. I did it for ethical reasons, I just realised that I love animals too much to eat them and I actually don’t miss meat at all! I also gave up drinking coke 2 years ago (I was definitely addicted for over 25 years) and haven’t touched it since because I know if I do, I’ll be addicted again. Hopefully I can get through the rest of my life without drinking it again as I’ve never gone this long before… 😕

DinaofCloud9 · 11/09/2021 17:36

Get married.

When I was younger the thought of people looking at me in my white dress filled me with fear and as I got older I just didn't see the point.

Pheebs2021 · 11/09/2021 17:38

Vote Conservative.
Drink and drive.
Act irresponsible behind the wheel of a car.
Class A drugs
Go out of my way to purposefully cause hurt or discomfort to somebody. I'm not a push over but I wouldn't purposefully for the sake of it cause somebody hurt or discomfort.

GTAlogic · 11/09/2021 17:44

Go to a market, flea market or Sunday market. I was dragged around them too many times as a child and hated them so I promised myself that as an adult I would never, ever, ever go to one!

HappyVagabond · 11/09/2021 17:46

Not try everything once
Not hitch hike all over the world
Not try all the mind altering drugs for the fun of it
Anal

Mommabear20 · 11/09/2021 17:47

Smoking and drugs.

I'm 28 and never smoked, or taken any recreational drugs!

I don't drink either but have done in the past.

HappyVagabond · 11/09/2021 17:56

God you're all so dull

AnyFucker · 11/09/2021 17:58

Thanks for the John Grisham info. I did not know that Hmm

AnyFucker · 11/09/2021 18:01

That should have been his Gerald Ratner moment.

3womeninaboat · 11/09/2021 18:02

@Pikamoo I never ate a yorkie since that advert either. “Not for girls” — OK then. It was one of my favourites until then.

JemimaM00n · 11/09/2021 18:03

Take my kids to McDonalds - shoot me!

Gufo · 11/09/2021 18:07

Have sex with a married man
Smack my children
Get involved in a pyramid scheme

Pebbledashery · 11/09/2021 18:08

Smoking. Utterly disgusting. I grew up with a father who smoked 20 a day Bensons super Kings, it was vile. No judgement from me to those who do smoke, but I would personally find it to vile to do myself.
Eating pork, not Muslim or vegetarian, but the thought of eating pork makes me feel ill to my stomach, again.. Each to their own, but that's just me.

twinkletoesimnot · 11/09/2021 18:09

Speak to my mother while she is living with the man she left my father for ( although she swore they were not in a relationship- 5 years down the line she is still living with him)
It's not that she left my dad, it's the casual dishonesty and the way she has treated me like an idiot.
I can't see us ever reconciling to be honest.

m030978 · 11/09/2021 18:09

Smoke - never even been offered - must give off 'vibes'

Buy a national lottery ticket - I was 16 when it was launched, worked out the chances of winning (maths nerd) and decided never to buy one.

Never ever get THAT drunk with colleagues again! Envy

twinkletoesimnot · 11/09/2021 18:12

@Bambooshoot

Incest and Morris dancing. I like to set a low bar so I can feel good with zero effort.
