What is something you said would never do and actually stuck to it?

Mine is smoking

I said I would never smoke and now at 32, I havent.

I was tempted as an older teen because at the time, everyone seemed to be doing it and I wondered why it was so popular, but now I’m glad I didn’t. It’s more common for people to not smoke now

@DayDate

Iron another shirt. DH complained in the first week we were married that I hadn't done it properly. TBF it was more in a "let me do it" way than an actual complaint, but I said I'd never do another and I didn't in 30 years.
Me too ! I ironed DP (now DH's) shirt in our early days together and I asked how it was. He said 'adequate' so I gave never ironed anything for him again. He absolutely isn't an ass about other stuff and we split other chores very equally it was just this one thing.

Dummy.
Bottlefeed.
Disposable nappies.
Get a tattoo.
Have short hair.
Put on weight.

In more recent times - wear a mask, get tested, get the app, get jabbed.

That form of veal production has been banned in the UK for decades
It still happens in Italy and the Netherlands but if you buy UK-produced veal (often labelled Rose Veal) it’s actually a very sustainable/ethical meat, because it’s the male dairy calves that would otherwise be shot at birth but are instead kept and grown

I listened to a really interesting podcast about it a while ago and now longer have a blanket ban on eating veal, as long as I know it’s British[/quote]
So how then is it produced in the UK? Out here there are young bull calves running free still feeding from their mothers alongside. To be raised for beef.
NB I no longer eat meat as I enjoy talking to critters and assuring them they are safe with me.

@BashfulClam

Smoke, my parents were heavy chain smokers and I despised it. My mum once said ‘you’ll do it if your friends do it to fit in! You’ll be a smoker too’ nope I’ve never smoked (trued it found it disgusting). I always think they look sad huddled in the cold outside because of a cigarette!
Yes me too
batmanladybird · 11/09/2021 15:47

@LookieLikie

Take illegal drugs
Oh this too
batmanladybird · 11/09/2021 15:47

I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke
Wouldn't touch it now

Pikamoo · 11/09/2021 15:55

Eat Yorkie bars. They were my favourite and I'd always get one after swimming when I was a teenager but since they did their "not for girls" advert I haven't bought a single one. I know it makes zero difference and the company that makes Yorkie makes plenty of things I do buy but I can't bring myself to have one after so long boycotting them.

dementedma · 11/09/2021 15:56

I refuse to buy bottled water, wet wipes, cling film and a whole host of other single use plastics. Get a real buzz everytime i replace something plastic with a non plastic choice.
Other areas of my life have not been so virtuous...

Marni83 · 11/09/2021 15:59

Oh I know!

When I said to my ex that I wanted a divorce
He said that I would change my mind
I said no

5 years later from that day… we are still divorced. I didn’t change my mind!

Thatsplentyjack · 11/09/2021 16:02

Having social media. Even when we were younger and and all my friends had MSN and beebo and whatever else, I still didn't use it. Still no face book or snap chat etc. I feel like people are getting quite annoyed with me for not having them now 🤣

Thatsplentyjack · 11/09/2021 16:03

I suppose my could be classed as social media but I don't know anyone on here and they don't know me so I don't think it's the same.

This was decades ago - I'm old. And I'm still never going to eat veal.

Marni83 · 11/09/2021 16:05

@Brollypackedforscottishholiday

Until I was 27 I was adamant I would never marry.. Currently married to dh number 4.. Blush
How old are you?!
Marni83 · 11/09/2021 16:09

Op after your childhood
I can’t believe you married a smoker!!!

poppym12 · 11/09/2021 16:10

Have a second child. I love him immensely and have managed to get him to adulthood (more or less) but the insistence from other people that I'd probably have another one because 'you forget the pain'. Nope. Never.

Soubriquet · 11/09/2021 16:11

@Marni83

Trust me, it was difficult to begin with and I did try to get him to quit, but he doesn’t smoke around me or make me sit in smoke filled areas so it’s a bonus
