I’m panicking. This means what I think it means, doesn’t it?

This is a BFP isn’t it?

Been feeling nauseous for a couple of weeks. Took a test a week ago and got a negative. Nearly threw up on my run this morning so thought I’d just double check.

I’ve had an ablation, I’m on contraception. There’s only one option for me.

But the sideways line hasn’t come up. Does that mean I’m panicking unnecessarily?

You don’t add the two lines together to make a cross!! That’s the test line.

It’s negative, you’re safe.

I can’t see any positive line there - maybe the picture is not clear?

No problem OP, sometimes panic does that to us!

Clearly it looks nothing like the cross in the diagram but to be fair to op it would confuse me a bit as it seems to have two "controls" - the small window and the default horizontal line in the main window. Happy for someone to explain why?!

The line in the small window is a control line that shows the test has completed.
The main window has only one line in it so the test is negative.

You're on contraception and the test has no second line. So it's very unlikely it's a BFP.

The right side is the control window and the left is the results, which shows negative.

It's negative, but trust me, I've been there with the panic! I can't have a baby. I just can't.

I had a similar panic with loud swearing a few weeks ago until I realised I was looking at the control line.

Take another op, if you’re reading it incorrectly it’s possible you haven’t taken it properly too, just to be sure.

that's a bloody confusing test, imo. I'd have freaked out, too.

You’re looking at the wrong window. That’s a clear negative test.

The test is negative. You need a cross in the big window for a positive!

TMI but I wee’d in a cup and then dipped, and laid it down and timed it for 3 minutes, having read the instructions carefully and several times.

So I did it properly.

I have just about calmed down by now. Thank god for MN!
