Pregnant after miscarriage - how long did it take you?

I know this is a question much like how long is a piece of string, however I am currently googling like crazy and thought I'd ask here.

Yesterday I had a MVA - surgical removal of my missed miscarriage under local anesthetic. I should be coming up to nine weeks but it seems the pregnancy (baby/fetus/does anyone know what the correct wording is?) Ended around six weeks. Miscarriage never came so the MVA removed everything.

DH and I are coming to terms with this and have spoken a lot over the past hellish two weeks while we waited for things to happen. We're quite sure we want to get pregnant again as soon as we can. I'm grieving more for the loss of the future plans and such rather than this pregnancy (I hope that makes sense) and I think the best thing I can do to help me move on is to actively try to conceive again.

And so my question, how long did it take you to conceive after a miscarriage? Does it matter that it's been a missed miscarriage? It's early days but we have been so lucky in the sense that it only took us about four months to conceive our DD and only two to conceive this time. It would be so nice to at least have Christmas and start the new year knowing that our family is growing rather than looking at my planned due date and feeling emptiness and loss.

Sorry for all the rambling. I guess my head is still a bit all over the place.

I had the same thing, missed miscarriage then MVA under GA at 9 weeks.

I think I was pregnant again within 8 weeks afterwards. I now have 2 ds.

It's a really tough thing to go through. Be kind to yourself Flowers

Same as me. MMC at 9 weeks and medical management at 11 weeks.

This was June. I had retained products removed in august.

I fell pregnant with DS in the January and he turns one next month! Also currently pregnant with DS2 who conceived after 1 month of trying.

Mmcs are horrible, but have hope xx

I had a missed miscarriage at 16 weeks in June . I was pregnant in sept on my second cycle after losing the baby . Kind of wish I took some more time to get over it but I was desperate to be pregnant again and got my lovely youngest daughter .

Also sorry for your loss Flowers

Onebabyandamadcat · 09/09/2021 09:19

Thank you everyone. I'm so sorry for all your losses too. It's utterly horrible and it's only now I'm appreciating just how common this is - I knew the statistics but I guess until you're in this position it's all very abstract.

It sounds like we have a good chance of getting pregnant again soon since we don't seem to have difficulty with conceiving. Thank you again for sharing 💐

I’m sorry for your loss Flowers.

I had two missed miscarriages discovered at the 12 week scan in 2017. I was pregnant two months after both and the second time around the pregnancy stuck and he’s now almost three.

@Onebabyandamadcat hi. I just had a MVA yesterday and we want to start ttc as soon as we can but my periods are really irregular. Have you had any luck?

Norma27 · 25/08/2023 20:18

I had a missed miscarriage at 16 weeks in 2013. At the time we were told to try again straight away if we wanted as very fertile.
I got pregnant 5 months later- but that was our first month trying.
Sending love to you.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 25/08/2023 20:23

I'm sorry for your loss, I remember mine well. Mine was also a missed miscarriage and I was pregnant again the third cycle. I didn't try for the first one as was bleeding a lot so I guess it took two cycles of trying.

Rolo08 · 25/08/2023 20:23

@Norma27 thank you lovely and I'm glad it worked out for you. Just feels like you're in limbo at the start of miscarriage x

I feel like I could've written this post... I had a MC July 2022 at 9+3 and just knew the only thing that would help me get through it would be to be pregnant again. We started trying again as soon as the bleeding stopped, I got pregnant in September and baby girl arrived June this year ❤️

Sending love to anyone who reads this and was in the same situation, because having a MC for me also mean the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy I was absolutely terrified... take one day at a time and try try try not to test before your period is due, it's agonising xxx

Rolo08 · 26/08/2023 07:00

@positivethoughts1 how lovely, congratulations ❤️ How long after did you get your negative test? My bleeding has relatively stopped but I have to wait for the negative. Also did you wait until your period to start trying again? X

purplebluediscorain · 26/08/2023 07:03

I was pregnant in the January 2021 miscarried was pregnant in the March 2021 miscarried that too then at the end of April 2021 I found out I was pregnant again and she is now 21 months old.

it was absolutely mental.

purplebluediscorain · 26/08/2023 07:03

That’s without a single period inbetween and just not being careful.

purplebluediscorain · 26/08/2023 07:05

It’s an incredibly hard situation but you’ve got this! It’ll happen for you and itll change your life! I’m so sorry you went through it I’m sorry that you all have been on this thread!

Rolo08 · 26/08/2023 07:16

@purplebluediscorain congratulations on your little one and sorry for your losses. Did you have surgical management for any of the losses and how long after did you test negative? X

I remember it being a little while before I got a negative test, maybe 14 days ish? No I didn't wait for a period however we didnt actively "try" that first month ie BBT, LH strips ect...

How are you getting on? X

RoseGoldEagle · 28/08/2023 03:54

I had similar to you- MVA procedure at 9 weeks after no heart beat at 7 weeks. Started trying again around a month later and got pregnant the third month trying.

justanothermanicmonday1 · 28/08/2023 04:25

I had a miscarriage in the May, and was pregnant by July. Good luck op 💐 xx

Tofu35 · 28/08/2023 04:35

Sorry for your loss. It took me four months after my miscarriage. Which in the grand scheme of things seems short, but the first negative pregnancy test definitely stung as I had read that it was likely I'd fall pregnant in my first cycle.

Rolo08 · 28/08/2023 13:13

@positivethoughts1 I had a negative test this morning which is what I expected but I randomly started bleeding again. I'm wondering if it's a period though because my miscarriage started over a month ago? X

BlackeyedSusan · 28/08/2023 22:28

Miscarriage at 8 weeks. (Foetus stopped developing at 5 weeks) (no surgical procedure) pregnant again first cycle. (Was late 30s age) He's 15.

purplebluediscorain · 29/08/2023 19:53

@Rolo08 no I didn’t have any intervention at all, they both were early miscarriages I forgot to add! Thank you so much and I hope everyone on this thread gets their miracle! I always am so grateful that my girl chose us and stuck with us as much as we chose her! Although i didn’t intentionally get pregnant apart from the first!
