If you were an important folder where would you hide?

DS came to me about 20 minutes ago to say that his folder with his art project inside it for school has disappeared from his shelf. He says he's looked around the rest of his room but I don't quite believe him on that one so he's looking again but I doubt we'll find it in there. So, where could it be?

I'd bet it's on the self. Directly in his line of vision.

I don't like to make sweeping statements about males being incompetent, but I do believe that somehow having a penis renders the penis owner incapable of finding something directly in front of them.

I thought the same until I checked aswell and it's definitely not there, although now I'm starting to wonder if it was even there in the first place. He's also left it until the last minute to tell me he's got PE tomorrow and doesn't know where his kit is so we've got to find that next. Bloody nightmare. He's currently looking for the folder under his bed, god knows where it's gone

In a bag or drawer

In a bookshelf between books or under a pile of books.
In a random drawer eg. Sock drawer at the bottom under all the socks.

Car ? And car boot ? Downstairs loo ? Hanging off a peg ?

Inside another file?
Under towels?
Under his bed though I appreciate putting a hand under to check is dodgy...
Under pillow /cushion?

How big is the folder? Our Art 'Folders' are big. They cunningly blend into the carpet in the boot, camouflage as a desk side, go for a snooze under the bed or sofa....

As for mit, the quickest way to find it is to tell them the PE Teacher is 'old school' & will make them do it in their pants if they go without their kit

I'd say the folder is a little bigger than a4 size, but it's quite thick. Under the sofa is a good idea, I'll check there next. There was no luck under the bed. DS is checking the car now. As for the PE kit, he's found the jumper, bag and trainers, the t shirt and shorts are nowhere to be seen.

I'm voting a drawer: I have found year old birthday cake, a few plates, ALL my teaspoons and for good measure half a portion of lasagne! To make it clear we DO NOT take food upstairs... he says he didn't.....

Behind the shelf itself, or on the side of it.
Failing that, under the bed (but you already checked there, and underneath the sofa), behind the bed frame.
Behind radiators is another tricky one!
Under duvet cover? If he just put it on his bed and then made the bed? Books and folders can be difficult to spot once they get under the bedding.

Fallen down a chest of drawers or unit of some sort?

That's where I found my DDs recently, when she insisted she'd looked everywhere in her room 🤦‍♀️

I really agree with on the bookshelf. That's where this sort of stuff always is in our house, rendering itself invisible.
Or: car boot/under seats. Bathroom. A shelf elsewhere in the house. A welly (personal favourite although ill admit less likely here).

Can he actually remember bringing it home from school? Or do you know it is definitely in the house?

It's definitely in the house. Checked in the wardrobe, not their either. Behind the bed and shelf is a good idea, will look there next. Might check behind the sofa aswell.

One idea is to have him retrace his different locations he's been to in the house with his arms out. That's the area to search should you not find it near its last seen location..

He might of had it and forgot because something else caught his attention.

Also backpack.

Down the side of the bed. Maybe he was working on it on the bed and it slipped down. Also check under the duvet!

In between a pile of washing.
