Abscess (pic), should I pop it?

Very painful abscess on inner thigh developed Sunday evening, saw Dr Monday morning, she prescribed antibiotics which I don’t think is making any difference - red area has grown over last 3 days.

This spot came up today and it getting larger. Do I pop it?

It’s stinging like a bitch. Wonder if I should return to A&E in the morning (as advised yesterday if red area grows) regardless of whether it’s burst or not. Last night in A&E, triage nurse told me it wasn’t septic (just from blood pressure). I’m worried, I guess :(

POP IT POP IT…. And show us 🥳

If you do decide to pop it, could you film it and stick it on you tube? Asking for a friend Blush

CovidCorvid · 08/09/2021 22:25

It’ll feel better if you pop it.

I’ve had a great evening, tinned potatoes, this and the reading of spooners corner 🥳

Coachradley · 08/09/2021 22:26

Put some sudocrem on it. It will dry it out and help with the redness

nananacomeon · 08/09/2021 22:27

Well I'd pop it. Whether you should though, everyone always says to leave them.

But I think that might pop in the night. Depriving of you of popping it when it would of popped anyway.

Gingerkittykat · 08/09/2021 22:27

You can buy magnesium sulphate OTC at the chemist, put a thick layer on, cover with a dressing and it will bring it to a head.

Can you not contact your GP tomorrow instead of going to A and E?

Oh Lordy, please pop it.

Russell19 · 08/09/2021 22:33

I'd have to pop that, bet it will ease the pain too if you do.

GottaLoveChocolate · 08/09/2021 22:33

Pop it!

If the red areas growing you should go back to a&e. I think sepsis could be a concern.

newmummy8789 · 08/09/2021 22:33

Pop it!
Film it too please!!!!!!
It will feel better once it's popped...get in a bath as hot as you can stand then have a squeeze 😀

Haggisfish3 · 08/09/2021 22:34

XD had one like that. We got antibiotic cream in the end. If it starts tracking with a red line coming out of it, or you get feverish, get back to a and e pronto.

You spoilsport @Coachradley!

Though to be fair, sometimes when an anger spot doesn't burst but seems to reduce and dry out, when you do squeeze you get a myriad of white worm like stuff whizzing out

swiftt · 08/09/2021 22:36

@ljcudd fellow HS sufferer? Flowers

OP, that looks super painful but I’d definitely be trying to pop it! Hot compress or some mag sulph paste might help it along.

spotcheck · 08/09/2021 22:38

Here to offer support to OP😂

me4real · 08/09/2021 22:39

I wold pop it maybe, but then blitz it with alcogel/alcohol so it's less likely to go more manky as a result.

redferrari · 08/09/2021 22:40

Sit in a bath with Epsom salts it will relieve pain and burst on its own.

SeaShoreGalore · 08/09/2021 22:40

POP IT!

CornishTiger · 08/09/2021 22:42

Every household needs magnesium sulphate , a hot compress and a sterilised needle.

If that’s an ingrown hair I bet it’ll be a long beauty too.

Magnesium sulphate is awesome stuff. Need to get from chemist and it does incredible work.
