Posted this on a local giveaway group, people round our way would take any old crap if they thought they were getting something for nothing.

Here's my message:

Over the weekend I chopped up our burst old paddling pool and made some bunting. Would anyone like some? It's blue and white triangles, triangles roughly 6cm across the top. I've made it into 8 x 2m lengths. The triangles are not all perfectly the same but it's nice and clean, might be good for a birthday party in a garden? Free to anyone who can make use of it.

I attached a photo of pretty ordinary looking blue and white triangle bunting.

I've had 3 sensible replies asking if people can have some and I have had many questions.

Have you got any pink?
Have you got any green?
Have you got any 4m pieces?
What's it made of?
Would this last in the garden under our gazebo if it was raining?
Have you got any other shapes? We don't really like triangles

You don't really like triangles? Seriously?

Was my ad really lacking in information or are people just stupid?

People are stupid. Your ad is clear to me.

I would however be interested in the water from the pool before you made the bunting, if you’ve still got it? it will come in handy for watering my plants.

Do you deliver?

FizzyPink · 07/09/2021 16:12

I love stories from these local Facebook groups. People are quite mad 😂

Knitwit101 · 07/09/2021 16:12

Sorry, the pool deflated when we were away overnight and the water flooded the grass. Someone would probably have come and collected the water if I'd offered it, once they'd asked what colour it was and what temperature.

Can I have the rest of the pool..is it still useable?

No you are wrong, they would have wanted it delivered :)

People are monumentally stupid.

BigThumb · 07/09/2021 16:15

My favourite part about this post is the implication that people asking questions about paddling pool bunting are weird but I think making bunting out of a dead paddling pool and posting it on Facebook is equally unusual 😂

PileOfBooks · 07/09/2021 16:15

Id like the pool for my garden. Can you deliver? Thanks hun.

These people are the same reason we have to put allergy warnings on bags of peanuts to say "may contain nuts"*

*tongue in cheek, I know there's a serious reason for allergy warnings!

SpacePotato · 07/09/2021 16:17

Is the plughole available?
Can you deliver 50 miles away for free?

Knitwit101 · 07/09/2021 16:20

I've still got the bottom, I haven't cut that up yet. Do you want it? Happy to deliver

Sure. Will this do?

You need to have a look on Pinterest, bunting is tame!

OP posts:
HollysBush · 07/09/2021 16:23

Is this still available?

Deadringer · 07/09/2021 16:23

Blue and white triangles you say?
I would prefer white and blue if you have it? Thanks hun.

HollysBush · 07/09/2021 16:24

Ach, no that plughole is no good, it’s looks a bit dirty.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 07/09/2021 16:25

What are you going with all the extra space now you've removed your paddling pool?

I'll give you a tenner for it. Cash.

I agree. Proper weird. I would have just given the whole paddling pool away and if people wanted to make bunting they could, or sent it to that company who recycle them into bags.
IncessantNameChanger · 07/09/2021 16:25

Did you state your town / village then have all the above questions with said idiots before they declare "ah I see you live in x. That's too far for me, sorry"

Collection only? They want it delivered.

No car? Not near public transport? Of course I can drive and have car. No one alive is in the same situation as you.

"I have children so I cant collect your crib. Can you deliver" why sure I dont have kids, hence the crib, I bought it for shits and giggles. Not my baby....

I hate FB for giving stuff away

LizzieSiddal · 07/09/2021 16:26

A lot of people are very stupid and don’t seem to have basic level of comprehension.

cricketmum84 · 07/09/2021 16:26

People are stupid.

Byheckythump · 07/09/2021 16:27

Have you got any the same as that plughole but in red please. You really should make it clear what colours and styles you have. People are busy.
Ps. There's a reason I don't have Facebook. Grin

myotherusernameistaken · 07/09/2021 16:30

What is bunting? Grin

BlackberrySky · 07/09/2021 16:30

Would my daughter like this or is it more for boys?
