Posted this on a local giveaway group, people round our way would take any old crap if they thought they were getting something for nothing.

Here's my message:

Over the weekend I chopped up our burst old paddling pool and made some bunting. Would anyone like some? It's blue and white triangles, triangles roughly 6cm across the top. I've made it into 8 x 2m lengths. The triangles are not all perfectly the same but it's nice and clean, might be good for a birthday party in a garden? Free to anyone who can make use of it.

I attached a photo of pretty ordinary looking blue and white triangle bunting.

I've had 3 sensible replies asking if people can have some and I have had many questions.

Have you got any pink?
Have you got any green?
Have you got any 4m pieces?
What's it made of?
Would this last in the garden under our gazebo if it was raining?
Have you got any other shapes? We don't really like triangles

You don't really like triangles? Seriously?

Was my ad really lacking in information or are people just stupid?

Can you deliver. 😂

iklboo · 07/09/2021 16:37

These people are the same reason we have to put allergy warnings on bags of peanuts to say "may contain nuts"

I know you're being tongue in cheek but - fun fact for down the pub - peanuts aren't nuts. They're legumes. But may be packed in an area with other nuts. Which is why they have to put that. We should start a campaign to rename them peabeans or something.

Purplewithred · 07/09/2021 16:39

I'm shocked and would block you because just blue and white supports the patriarchy. I bet they are all the same size and shape too. You should have asked around for other colours to show your inclusivity. People often give away free broken paddling pools on Facebook, I would have asked there.

Can you take more photos hun, some close up ones as well. I’m trying to see if the blue is the right blue.

Blueberryflavour · 07/09/2021 16:53

Ooh forgot to ask how rubbery does the bunting feel? Not interested if it feels too rubbery.

StarryStarrySocks · 07/09/2021 16:59

Free, you say? I wanted it for less than that so no thanks.

BarbaraofSeville · 07/09/2021 17:00

Grin at this thread. This is why people buy brand new cars and sign up to PCP deals. The extra cost is worth it 10 times over to free yourself from having to deal with some of the people who buy and sell cars on social media, eBay etc.

Eralos · 07/09/2021 17:19

I’d think no I don’t want an old paddling pool as bunting 😂

Happy36 · 07/09/2021 17:21

Just wanted to say what a lovely idea to reuse the paddling pool material.

Samanabanana · 07/09/2021 17:21

Can you deliver for free when the moon is full and the tide is high?

RainyDay2020 · 07/09/2021 17:22

Some people are just plain stupid and FB marketplace seems to bring out the worse of them.
I advertised a couple of bits of uniform - got asked if I can sell them uniform for the other school in town instead and could I deliver to them oh and they can’t afford more than £1 - I was like WTF?!

Omg this is amazing... 😂😂😂 People are hilarious 'we don't really like triangles' hahahaha.

On another note, that's actually quite a good use of a burst pool!

Shirleyphallus · 07/09/2021 17:25

Does it NEEDS GONE hun?

iklboo · 07/09/2021 17:26

Can you deliver for free when the moon is full and the tide is high?

Only if the crows fly widdershins across the moon, and the cows lie turn wise in the top field.

Livebythecoast · 07/09/2021 18:18

So was that a yes or no to pink or green? Sorry, your advert wasn't very clear........

GlitterBiscuits · 07/09/2021 18:29

Do you have isosceles triangles?
I really only like right angled triangles but as it's free...

HoollyWugger · 07/09/2021 18:45

Hurray!! Someone else uses the word 'widdershins' Grin
Mariell · 07/09/2021 18:57

I’d like a refund on the bunting that I bought as I thought I could sellotape it back together again and make a swimming pool but there is a triangle missing so I am reporting you to Trading Standards.

Row1n · 07/09/2021 21:40

Someone else is offering me free bunting and a free gazebo to hang it from - what else can you throw in to sweeten the deal?

hollyhocksarenotmessy · 07/09/2021 21:54

I prefer actual fabric. If you are going to be cutting up your patio furniture cushions for bunting as well, I'll take it. I'll collect tomorrow at 7am
