Purchase under £100 that's changed your life

Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

A ticket for The Cramps at the Glasgow Barrowlands, 1991. £8.

PineappleCakes · 05/09/2021 23:53

I've just bought this for DC to take with them to university (we use an older, larger, different brand at home). Another PP mentioned this model earlier in the thread too.

The best £100 purchase for us would have to be our rescue cat, which has brought so much joy into our lives ♥️

Gadgets that I can't do without though are my Pampered Chef tongs (they have a mechanism to open/lock depending on the direction you hold them, no 2nd hand needed to lock them close).

Houseplants that we've acquired since lockdown, they too have brought great pleasure (and pain! I've managed to kill several through too much love over watering )

Love this thread!

I'm going to add a Luvele yoghurt maker.

Can't beat home made yoghurt and the Luvele has three temperature options plus, unlike many other machines, it can incubate for up to 24 hours.

Vitallyli · 06/09/2021 00:01

Cordless vacuum cleaner for me it was Morphi Richardson for £100.

I like Google home better than Alexa.

carrotcakeconnoisseur · 06/09/2021 00:11

An oil heater for beside my desk at home. Toasty and don't need to heat the full house.

KeyboardWorriers · 06/09/2021 00:26

My desk. We couldn't figure out how to fit one in our bedroom, and I needed somewhere quiet to work so badly. Then we found this lovely narrow desk that fits perfectly. And although I would love a huge expansive desk, after months of perching on the bed hiding from children in lockdowns it just feels so civilized.

memberofthewedding · 06/09/2021 00:27

TENS machine for my arthritis.

Alpenguin · 06/09/2021 00:45

Oofos clogs. Ugly af but like pillows for my feet. Best £50 ever spent on essentially foamy rubber shoes

Mamanyt · 06/09/2021 01:09

There are two small purchases that UTTERLY changed my life after I had my stroke, and together they would have cost well under that amount (can't get the pound sign on my keyboard to save me, so let's say $100). The first was the tray that fits over my walker's handles, and allows me to carry food and drinks from my kitchen to my chair. I am now able to feed myself without calling a neighbor to bring the prepared food to me! The second was a lap desk for my laptop computer, which allows me to go online easily and comfortably, especially on bad days when I have to pretty much stay in bed.

StressyWoman · 06/09/2021 01:30

Very boring but cerave products Grin

LopsidedWombat · 06/09/2021 01:32

Aerolatte milk frother that cost about £10. It is so quick and easy to use and keep clean, plus genuinely works so I can easily make any sort of latte I want at a fraction of the price of one bought in a coffee shop.

£30 on a teddy fleece hoodie for when I get cold at home. We have crap heating plus I've got poor circulation and it is sooo comfortable and warm.

MouseholeCat · 06/09/2021 02:14

My first menstrual cup.

My 1 litre insulated water bottle.

My favorite mug.

2.5% benzoyl peroxide for my acne.

The adoption fee for my cats.

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/09/2021 02:14

Air fryer

I was so sceptical. I got a cheapy one on offer with a voucher so actual cost about £60 but cash cost to me, £35. You can cook so much in it! yes chips but chicken breasts, legs, and thighs. Pizza (if you dont mind a softer base) , burgers, bacon, sausages,, chops, steak, eggs in a ramekin, and in desperation once because I had forgotten it for a roast....stuffing!

Put that with my Tefal Connect (posh pressure cooker that I only have thanks to a test on MN and costs £££) and I barely ever use the cooker!

coolasfcuk · 06/09/2021 02:27

Meaco fan (the 1056 air circulator). I checked it was under £100, and it was £99 when I got it, but it's only £74 from John Lewis right now.

It's brilliant - quiet, powerful, there's a remote control. I don't think I could sleep without it now and it's fantastic for quick cooling when I get a hot flush.

My cat.
So true! Best investment ever.

£8.99 Tommee tippee flask. Keeps water boiling for hours, fantastic for making baby bottles on the go.. once baby was up I took it to work filled with coffee and it stayed hot the full 7 hour shift, great for the early days when I was so worried about covid I didn’t have to touch a kettle LOL

Wiredforsound · 06/09/2021 03:03

My Aeropress. I have 3 now - one for my house, one for my partner’s and one for work. Once you get your head round it, it’s a great, fuss free, mess free, way of making a great cup of coffee.

A weighted blanket - it didn’t really work for me but it made a massive difference to my partner’s sleep. He’s now getting a good 8 hours of really high quality sleep a night and it’s made a huge difference to his mood and well-being. He’s prone to eczema when he’s stressed and it can get quite bad - the blanket appears to be reducing its frequency and severity by about 80%. It has made him a lot happier and more relaxed.

Maskless · 06/09/2021 04:06

Remote control 8-speed fan for my bedroom. I often wake up too hot and feeling stuffy and stale and in need of some cool air blown at me, and I can use the remote to switch it on for a few mins without even getting out of bed.

Karcher Window Vac. Life changing.

Neverstick roasting and baking trays.

Nothing has ever stuck to them.

Instant Pot...bought to replace an awful old pressure cooker
It cooks perfect rice ( and rice pudding!) , meat stock/ soups as well as amazing chilli con carne, baked cheesecakes and yogurt...to name but a few things it can cook quickly and so much more safely than conventional pressure cooker!
Nespresso coffe machine, milk frother and Monin syrups....dds love making their own lattes

isthismylifenow · 06/09/2021 05:34

Had a rough winter so I'm saying my fleecy under sheet electric blanket. Why I never bought one before I just do not know.

Le creuset Dutch oven. I use it at least 4/5 times a week.

Body Shops Oils of Life skincare range. I used Clarins for years but just couldn't afford it any more. My skin looks so much healthier.

New bread maker. I could never understand why my bread wouldn't end up nice until I realized that my 25 year old bm just wasnt cutting it any more. Now I make proper looking bread that is actually loaf shaped rather than a square blob of dough.

Swan water machine which takes a 20l water bottle and water is always nice and cold, and it has an ice maker so we always have ice. Living in a hot country is a necessity imo. And then the DC don't leave the freezer door open by mistake and no faffing about with ice trays

Toni and Guy hair straightener. Just as good as a ghd for a fraction of the price.

Bioderma Sebium acne treatment for maskne. Amazing product. (this is for dd but it's brilliant)

Also for dd, period pants

H&m vest tops for myself but from the childrens department. Perfect length, perfect fit and half the price for the same thing across the other end of the shop in the ladies department.

I need to find the spring hair removal tool. Can it be used on bikini area?

Reading this thread as I can not sleep and have a shopping list now but this is the jump out for me.

Wow, I have never heard of these. Will definitely try them as I have bought loads of expensive ones over the years but they always end up sticking.

Thanks for the recommendation.
