Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

Also my pregnancy pillow, not even pregnant anymore

isthismylifenow · 06/09/2021 09:20

Whilst looking at things I don't really need on Shein, I also noticed the ball thingmebobs that you put into the washing machine to reduce the dog hairs on the washing. Do these work? I have a front loader and those with the little bag seem to be only for a top loader. The balls seem a bit sticky, (like velcro) and so I was wondering if it will ruin the clothes....

Odisia · 06/09/2021 09:21

Amazon Prime subscription

Weighted blanket - mine was a special offer in Aldi

Aftershokz wireless bone conduction headphones.

KATismyusername · 06/09/2021 09:25

@FusciasBright21

Eye mask with built in headphones. I have tinnitus and also sleep really lightly so this helps me fall and stay asleep. When I worked nights it was a godsend!
I came here to say the same thing.
StrongArm · 06/09/2021 09:29

@PinkFootstool what are these amazing non migraine sunglasses? both me and ds are affected by sun migraines!

BestIsWest · 06/09/2021 09:36

Wool duvet.
My Kindle - I’ve recently got the waterproof one for £69 after accidentally drowning the last one.

PinkFootstool · 06/09/2021 09:36

@StrongArm Migralens is the brand. Putting them on during an attack is like a cold compress to the face.

I buy mine from the RNIB as they benefit from the sale. You can buy other styles on this site or elsewhere, but I live in these.

Making a list here...

TheyWentToSeaInASieve · 06/09/2021 09:50

@Thanksihateit

Breville toastie maker

That’s it. It’s revolutionised my WFH-lunches

This! I have had mine for years and still use it about 5 times a week: muffins, pitta breads, toasties. I've even cooked bacon to a crisp in mine, but that was too messy to do again:-)
foxychox · 06/09/2021 09:52

A rubber broom that comes with a dustpan, no more scrabbling around on the floor and it is amazing for picking up pet hair from the remotest corners.
Aftershokz headphones - now I can listen to music/podcast etc while running and still be completely aware of my surroundings while I run.

Farfalle88 · 06/09/2021 09:53

@WineInTheBlood

I bought a metal tin for laundry powder with a scoop that hangs on the side. It sounds stupid but just not having the mess you get when pouring the washing powder out of the box makes me happy. Or that annoying thing when the powder box is under the sink and the bottom gets wet and so the last bit of powder clumps together. Plus it looks good.

It's a luxury but it's genuinely improved my life, as sad as that is Grin

Ooh, I need one of those! Where did you ge for please?
Ariela · 06/09/2021 09:59

Silverwood aluminium cake tins. Bake the best cakes. I can do a batch of a dozen cakes and swear you can taste which cakes were cooked in the one set of Silverwood.

sanityisamyth · 06/09/2021 10:02

Pivo tracking camera. I managed to get it for £94 with various discounts and vouchers on Amazon. It means I can help my DS ride and film it at the same time as I generally don't have an extra pair of hands!

FireworkParrot · 06/09/2021 10:04

Just a standard throw blanket from Costco. I bought it 10 years ago and it's still beautifully soft and cozy....it can be washed and tumble dried and cost about £15.

USB lighter....no more burning my fingers trying to light candles with matches or gas running out of lighters.

Would agree with houseplants, mine give me a lot of joy.

Velvetiser, yes it's just a fancy milk frother but I got it on offer for £65, use it every day to froth milk for home-made lattes and I've easily saved that money back by not going to Cafe Nero on my way to work every day!

Super fine tip tweezers for ingrown hairs.

Pouring Aerator that fits onto the top of a bottle of red wine and makes a massive difference to the taste of my wine without having to open the bottle and let it breathe for a while.

RickOShay · 06/09/2021 10:20

@campingfever
Thank you so much for the cooking pan recommendation. Desperately need a new frying pan, and bil was also moaning about his, birthday soon so got two Smile. Thank you.

AchillesLastStand · 06/09/2021 10:32

Dreamland heated faux fur throw, only a penny under £100 but I absolutely love it and use it everyday during the winter.

White noise machine from Amazon, cost £20, I have tinnitus and anxiety and switch it on rainfall at bedtime, very soothing.

Moshulu slipper boots. I will never buy any other slippers now.

I’d agree with the Lakeland heated airer too.

House plants too, I picked up a cheese plant in Sainsbury’s last week for £7. Plant improve mental well-being and look lovely too.

I think things you use nearly everyday are always good buys.

thanks so so much - I have never heard of these or been told about them. Ds in particular suffers really badly so will get some for him too!

MedusasButterDish · 06/09/2021 10:36

Fingerless gloves. Perfect for the UK climate (and UK houses Hmm), and no aggro with smartphone touchscreens. This company (www.turtle-doves.co.uk/0) do lovely colourful ones, in cashmere recycled from jumpers. You get discounts from signing up, and there are regular sales, so I'm only ]]

MedusasButterDish · 06/09/2021 10:38

oops, pressed send too soon. I've ended up with matching gloves and hats, a picnic blanket (recyled wool), various presents. Just really lovely stuff, great value and environmentally sustainable.

WTF0ver · 06/09/2021 10:38

Dehumidifier with clothes drying function. Amazing when it's raining/during the winter when I can't dry my clothes outside. Also great for condensation.

babouchette · 06/09/2021 10:39

My rescue kitten - now a beautiful, fluffy four-year-old cat. £85 from Battersea Cats' Home and I can't think of anything in my life that has given me so much joy except my actual children. She is bonkers, not very clever and often bad-tempered but she makes me laugh every day and her affectionate cuddles are absolute heaven.

GoodnightGrandma · 06/09/2021 10:42

I bought those Anzio indoor dehumidifiers from Amazon and I’m shocked at how much water they collect.
I like to have all my windows open, so it’s not as if I thought we’d have a damp house.

Roystonv · 06/09/2021 10:42

Bought the springy hair removal thingies and I just can't get it to work Hmm

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/09/2021 10:53

Deep tissue massage gun
I have Cerebral Palsy and it really does help relax my muscles
Cerave Moisturising cream.. the best I've ever used for my sore sensitive skin
