Would you prefer to sit beside or opposite your DH?

Absolutely no preference. Presumably it’s for a few hours at most so does it really matter.

Are there other people at the table? If it's just us we sit opposite.

Next to. I'd rather be facing the other couple/diners so I could direct my conversation towards them.

Not sure but wouldn't want to sit next to another man if he typically manspreads.
My ex used to spread his elbows out and I used to push the arm closest to me back towards him. Got sick and tired of doing it and telling him to move.

We always sit opposite, when we are in a group of 4, being two couples we go diagonal.

If with another couple, next to. If with DCs, opposite.

I am not a child so don’t have to sit next to my best friend.
But I do always nab the lady’s seat!

if it's a train I get dh to book two opposite seats, then I can choose the forwards facing and put my feet up under the table, do my own long legged womanspreading.

I don’t honestly think it matters. People will just move around on the table they are on if they want to!

I'd say sit couples same side facing the other couple.

For a wedding I’d much prefer next to. Good to be able to switch drinks if you are secretly pregnant and need to / have someone to literally turn and speak to if the person opposite you is boring etc etc
