For those of you who live with a partner, what would you say is the overall percentage split of all chores/childcare/life admin?

Please also state if you are male or female.

I’d say for me (F) 60% and OH (M) 40%

Im a single parent so defo do life admin. Just dont know what it is. Is it paying bills? I have direct debits- do most peoplendo something different?

KeyboardWorriers · 03/09/2021 19:44

Me (F) -40, DH (M) -60

I generally work longer hours than he does though, so our leisure time is pretty even.

RiversideAnne · 03/09/2021 19:44

Chores pretty evenly split. Life admin - my husband probably does a bit more. Childcare - I do more at the moment because I’m on mat leave but I’m about to go back to work and he’s going on paternity so he’ll do more of it then.

RiversideAnne · 03/09/2021 19:45

(I’m female he’s male)

KeyboardWorriers · 03/09/2021 19:46

Ultimately I think the key is that people end up with a similar amount of leisure time after all core tasks are done (if someone wants to create extra work for themselves that's a different issue... )

KohlaParasanda · 03/09/2021 19:51

When I was working long hours and DH was a SAHP, me (female) 25%, DH (male) 75%. Now there's no childcare, we both work less than full time, and it's around 50% each. Or 45%, each, because our resident adult offspring often blitzes the kitchen.

BrilloPaddy · 03/09/2021 19:54

We're unusual in that we work and live together.

I do 70% of home, DH probably does 70% of the business. So it works out equally in the long run.

It doesn't matter who does what as long as there is no resentment from either partner.

Susannahmoody · 03/09/2021 19:58

F=65%
M=35%

Paid employment: 70% me (F) / 30% him (M)
Childcare: not really relevant as our youngest is nearly 16. I guess I still do 90% of child related tasks such as uni prep, homework help, school admin. When the dcs were small he did 70% of the childcare
Chores 50% me / 50% him. He does all the traditional male jobs of house diy/car maintenance/gardening. He also does half the laundry, most of the cooking and some cleaning
Life admin: 100% me He would be lost if I died suddenly
