This is the most random, possibly passive-aggressive birthday gift I’ve ever received…

It was my birthday yesterday. I’m 36 and not particularly hairy of face.

This arrived in the post today from my Mother.

I mean I hate to sound ungrateful, I know it’s the thought that counts and all but… WTF?!

That's her Christmas present sorted then! Prime re-GIFT material

Mybalconyiscracking · 03/09/2021 13:01

There are no words, beats the Scottish phrase book my Mum gave me for my birthday, the day after my daughter was born.
Pack it up and give it back to her for Christmas!

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/09/2021 13:01

Oh dear Smile

SandysMam · 03/09/2021 13:03

I would actually quite like one of those!!

DownWhichOfLate · 03/09/2021 13:03

Is it any good? I’m covered in facial fuzz Sad

HyggeTygge · 03/09/2021 13:04

Your username is apt, op...
Is she a bit dotty?

Nopetryagain · 03/09/2021 13:04

Wow! Are you sure she didn't realise and just thought it was some posh make up possibly??

PieceOfString · 03/09/2021 13:04

If this was from my mum her thought processes would have been something like "well she is turning 36 so The Change is only round the corner, better give her something so she can keep those youthful looks she's currently still enjoying". My mum has a loooong history of batty presents.

Letthelightoflove · 03/09/2021 13:04

What does it do? Any chance she missed the hair removal bit (small type) and thought it was something else?

SpindleWhorl · 03/09/2021 13:07

They're crap anyway.

KupoNutCoffee · 03/09/2021 13:09

Yes this. I thought it was as first, only when having a proper look at it...

But tbf, it doesn't exactly scream thoughtful if she barely looked at it...you'd at least turn it over / open the lid and check the colours if you though it was makeup.

MonicaFaloolaGeller · 03/09/2021 13:10

According to google it’s essentially a shaver.

She will have got it from one of those crappy TV shopping channels too so I can’t even take it back to Boots or wherever and swap it for something I might actually use…

Also the box is a bit torn so it’s been opened. She definitely knew what she was giving me.

I don't see any problem. She must have seen it and thought you would like it.
My mum often gives me really unexpected things, but most are very useful and quite practical ime.

Mariell · 03/09/2021 13:13

It’s absolutely brilliant though! I bought it to touch up down below and after I cleaned it I started toying with it all over and my whole body bar the hair in my head and my eyebrows are now as smooth as an egg!

It’s fantastic but addictive!

Ninkanink · 03/09/2021 13:17

As pp said, perfect for re-gifting.🎄🎄🎄

Holothane · 03/09/2021 13:19

Regift at Christmas.

santabetterwashhishands · 03/09/2021 13:20

My mil bought me a bath duck with a huge penis for Christmas one year 😩
I just thought wtf possessed her to think I'd actually want that 😳

I think a box of ten ladies for her Christmas present would be ideal…..

Lollypop701 · 03/09/2021 13:21

Tena ladies even!😂

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 03/09/2021 13:22

Fight fire with fire, and get her some Femfresh and Odoureaters for Christmas. Grin
