Vegan school shoes? Help sought!!!

I need boys size 6 non leather school shoes with easy fastening/velcro. I'm not sure they exist so the last bit we can probably swap for elastic style laces. I've been searching for hours. Can Mumsnetters work their magic?!

How do you know the school shoes don't eat meat and dairy products?

They’re described as trainers, but they aren’t. They’re very shoe-like - firm soles and good ankle support.

One of the most commonly used jewellery tools is a rawhide mallet. It's a mallet made from animal hide, uses to form metal into shape, make rings rounds etc.

Just saying that just because something doesnt contain an animal product, that doesnt mean animal products arent used in the manufacturing.

Have you tried a supermarket such as Tesco or Sainsburys, ours has school shoes and most of them are not leather. Hope you find something suitable.

M and S sold out. I think he'd trip up in DMs and struggle getting then on and off even I I desired the laces as stiff. I've tried ASDA and Sainsbury's, don't have any other cheap did that might have had synthetic ones.

Consider this, 1 cows life might go to make 50 leather shoes, but 1 pair plastic (fake leather is plastic) shoes will literally kill hundreds of sea fish and mammal lives as they degrade and shed microplastics into the environment.

So vegan shoes actually harm more animals than leather shoes do.

In addition, the vegan shoes plastic are made from fossil fuels...so have a higher CO2 footprint that comes from the production and refining of oil into plastic. Whereas a leather shoe is a fully compostable material the production of which actually removes CO2 and methan from the environment. You might think you’re helping climate change, but you’d be contributing to it.

Yeah sorry for preaching. I should be sleeping. Bit embarrassed of my post although it is truth. Not everything vegan is green. A lot is, but some things like fake fur and fake leather really aren’t and they rise my hackles a bit.

Can he wear black canvas shoes? Probably not, I remember how insane the school uniform policies were in the UK when I lived there.

Is that small or big size 6? I'm trying to work out if your DS is young with very small feet or if he is a teenager with adult size 6 feet!

Your post makes sense. I'm assuming canvas won't be ok. New to secondary school but get the impression schools fuss over things like shoes.
