The neighbours still outside

The neighbours are still outside loudly chatting. They have friends over once a week and make loud noise usually only til 11 but it's gone past 11 now. They have got a dog now and it's barking obviously because they are outside. I just want to wind down for the night, my window is closed but I can still hear. These neighbours have in the past got a tree surgeon in at 8am with the chainsaw so they don't really care about their neighbours, didn't even have the decency to let us know that was going to be happen. You could say yes should be up by then, but not everyone has the same schedule. Hope they go to bed soon getting fed up.

Why are they outside? Hopefully leaving soon?

Probably got a friend around. My tinnitus is playing up because of their noise, my bedroom is quite close to their patio where they sit :( I have misophonia as well and her coughing is driving me nuts :(

The weather is quite good here and it’s the start of the last Bank holiday of the year . Lots of people outside. It’s not really late to me if they are only talking. Could you use earplugs ?

Fluffmonkey82 · 27/08/2021 23:22

Sympathies here, I can't stand the people next door to me and their annoying loud visitor...

I've got no earplugs and really I shouldn't have to use them. Regardless of the weather and bank holidays, it's 11 at night. If this keeps going I will be reporting it.

You're going to 'report' people talking and coughing in their garden!? Grin

You know what you said about people having different schedules? Other people are not just an add-on to your tiny world...

Lou98 · 27/08/2021 23:28

If they usually stop by 11 I would imagine they'd be stopping soon. Can you go round and ask them to keep it down?

Although the tree surgeon is irrelevant, they were doing nothing wrong, it's usually 8am start for that kind of work. You say the noise usually stops at 11 so they obviously are somewhat considerate of neighbours if they usually keep the noise to allowed times

Talking outside is noise pollution?

TwooThirty · 27/08/2021 23:30

Have you asked them to move inside? They might not know their noise is travelling and keeping you up. Just politely tell them.

sprinkleyumnut · 27/08/2021 23:31

Yes if done loudly talking outside is noise pollution. Dog barking is also noise pollution. I love dogs and it's obviously not the dogs fault, but their is a certain respect you have for others. Maybe I was brought up the wrong way but I don't make loud noise at half 11 at night.

They probably don’t realise that their voices are carrying. 11pm isn’t that late to be talking in the garden on a Friday night.

It will fall on deaf ears I'm afraid.

11 on a Friday.

Honestly if you want silence you need to live surrounded by a field.

Foxmylife · 27/08/2021 23:35

Its a friday inaugust

ginfixx · 27/08/2021 23:36

Chatting in your own back garden is not noise pollution YABU

Pinkspecs · 27/08/2021 23:36

How annoying for you OP.
Hopefully they shut up soon.

AlmostSummer21 · 27/08/2021 23:37

Loud noise isn't the only thing that's annoying at Half eleven!

You can expect anyone to take a report if people talking outside, let alone at 11:30 on the Griday if a Bank Holiday

victoriaspongecake · 27/08/2021 23:39

Put ear plugs in. White noise on. Windows closed. Move house.

TwooThirty · 27/08/2021 23:39

Are you saying this because you’ve asked them in the past and they’ve said no or is this just something you’ve decided without even ever trying?

Because if it’s the latter and you’re willing to report them over this then it’s worth a shot.

Ifyouarehappyandyouknowit21 · 28/08/2021 00:00

Have they gone now Op? Some people are so inconsiderate!

sandgrown · 28/08/2021 00:01

@sprinkleyumnut if you are so noise sensitive perhaps it would be wise to invest in earplugs or noise cancelling headphones.

Gilead · 28/08/2021 00:03

Oh for heavens sake, it’s perfectly reasonable for a decent Friday night for neighbours to be using their garden. I’m really glad I’m not your neighbour.
