The neighbours still outside

The neighbours are still outside loudly chatting. They have friends over once a week and make loud noise usually only til 11 but it's gone past 11 now. They have got a dog now and it's barking obviously because they are outside. I just want to wind down for the night, my window is closed but I can still hear. These neighbours have in the past got a tree surgeon in at 8am with the chainsaw so they don't really care about their neighbours, didn't even have the decency to let us know that was going to be happen. You could say yes should be up by then, but not everyone has the same schedule. Hope they go to bed soon getting fed up.

If you want silence you need to move to a detached house far away from anyone else 🙄

WaterIsBest · 28/08/2021 00:07

Friday
Bank holiday weekend
August

You need ear plugs !

Talking in the garden isnt noise pollution

They are allowed to be in there garden

HirplesWithHaggis · 28/08/2021 00:09

@LemonSwan

11 on a Friday.

Honestly if you want silence you need to live surrounded by a field.

I live surrounded by fields. Said fields are full of cattle. Cattle are not silent. Grin

I keep reading this, if you don't want neighbour noise go live in a detached house in the countryside. It really, really isn't silent, you should hear our bloody swallows at dawn...

I would freak out if I could hear human voices, though.

Rogue1001 · 28/08/2021 00:12

I don't think it's appropriate to describe a dissenting voice as a troll.

But I'm sorry for your obvious frustration

Lou98 · 28/08/2021 00:13

@HirplesWithHaggis haha I agree, definitely noisier living in the countryside😂

I'd say you'll not have much luck reporting, I know people that have been trying to get through to 101 to report actual crimes and have been waiting hours, never mind for noise.
They'll all be in bed by the time anybody answers, never mind actually shows up (although I doubt they even would for people talking on bank holiday weekend)

Frannibananni · 28/08/2021 00:15

YABU,

HirplesWithHaggis · 28/08/2021 00:17

@Lou98 At least the neighbours aren't cropping for silage atm, tractors all night for that... Grin

ThreeWitches · 28/08/2021 00:24

Christ ...

ilovesooty · 28/08/2021 00:24

If they were playing loud music or having a noisy party then were hostile when you asked them to stop it might be worth reporting.

This situation isn't likely to be taken seriously.

Nosferatussidebit · 28/08/2021 00:44

Chatting at a normal volume in your own garden comes under normal household noise. If they were shouting or playing music it would be noise pollution.

TheCanyon · 28/08/2021 00:45

My tinnitus is playing up because of their noise, my bedroom is quite close to their patio where they sit sad I have misophonia as well

Uh huh, of course. No earplugs you say? My arse

RavingAnnie · 28/08/2021 01:50

"I've got no earplugs and really I shouldn't have to use them. Regardless of the weather and bank holidays, it's 11 at night. If this keeps going I will be reporting it."

People are allowed to be in their gardens talking at any time of the day or night. Something you'll just have to adjust to I'm afraid. You can't expect people to go to bed because you want them to. Or not use their own garden because it doesn't suit you.

If they were out there yelling and screaming or playing super loud music you might have a point (but even then it is a Friday night so 11 still is not late), but you can't police someone talking.

NiceGerbil · 28/08/2021 02:06

It's Friday night...

HasaDigaEebowai · 28/08/2021 06:26

Yabu. People are allowed to enjoy their space. It’s your issue not theirs

newnortherner111 · 28/08/2021 07:22

Have you actually spoken to them about their behaviour? Reporting them for noise nuisance should be normally about something persistent, not a one-off in summer on a Friday evening.
