Just that really. Something personalised with 18 on it would be good. Thanks

Wow that's lazy

Ever heard of Google?
You can stick '18' on anything you like
We don't know your daughter

MaskingForIt · 27/08/2021 07:41

What does she want? Most things with “18” on it will be rather passé in a couple of years time.

What about opening a pension for her and adding money to it?

Winterfairy23 · 27/08/2021 07:47

What about a nice charm bracelet? You can choose a couple of more classic charms and add one with 18 on it. You could add to it every birthday or Christmas and there are loads of charms tailored to personal interests too.

Iputthetrampintrampoline · 27/08/2021 07:50

18s in our extended family are usually a holiday for birthday person and plus one.
It seems to be all about experiences these days OP. So maybe take a look at those. We had one family friend sent theirs on a murder.mystery weekend that went done well, someone else did a cocktail making couse, someone had driving lessons on a weeks course with test, Mine went to see the Northern Lights. My cousin got hers a much begged for designer handbag that was 3 years ago and still the girl cannot get over the fact she has one! My dhs family got their girl a why I love you book on her 18th that was lovely and so personal.

esloquehay · 27/08/2021 07:54

Personalised presents are really tacky. Just get her something she wants/likes. Have you asked her?

Sh05 · 27/08/2021 07:56

Some money towards driving lessons or whatever her interests are would probably be better appreciated.

2018 fiat 500? 18kg bag of dog food?
UsernameNotAvailableApparently · 27/08/2021 07:59

Mum, is that you from 15 years ago?

HairyMaryMyCanary · 27/08/2021 08:00

I recommend you ask your daughter. Unless you're spending less than ten pounds.

HairyMaryMyCanary · 27/08/2021 08:01

Dear me, don't give her a charm bracelet. They can't sell them, no-one wants them.

Mummadeze · 27/08/2021 08:06

Something personal to her! I got my niece jewellery but found out the type of earrings she loved and checked them with her Mum first. When my DD turns 18 I would think about something she really wants / needs and then maybe give her a piece of jewellery as a keepsake too. The only ‘18’ actual item I would buy though would be a card.

birdsong7 · 27/08/2021 08:08

Oh gosh please don't buy her anything personalised. They're so tacky and will just be thrown in a drawer the week after her birthday.

It obviously depends on your budget. Jewellery would be a nice sentimental gift but stay clear of Pandora.
Maybe simple diamond earrings? They would look beautiful and she could wear them most days and will remember them as her 18th birthday gift.

What does she want?

Pedalpushers · 27/08/2021 08:09

Depends what your budget is?

I wouldn't recommend anything with 18 on it, she'll have chucked it out before she's 19.

Mydogisagentleman · 27/08/2021 08:12

We got our DD an intensive driving course.
Unfortunately she failed her driving test and hasn’t been able to do it again.
She’s planning to do it again next summer. She will be 21 then and hopefully funding it herself

ActonSquirrel · 27/08/2021 08:13

A lovely big birthday card with 18 on it. Then a gift she wants. You know your daughter

Waspsarearseholes · 27/08/2021 08:56

Don't get something with 18 on it for goodness' sake. It's so, so tacky and becomes obsolete in no time. Nobody likes that shit that the card shops sell and it's really lazy and impersonal. You've given us no clues as to what her interests/likes are so we're just pissing in the wind here.

JaceLancs · 27/08/2021 09:25

Depends on your budget
In my house can’t go wrong on jewellery
I had a set of 3 bangles made in white gold with 18 diamonds for DDs 18th similar to my yellow gold ones (not because I thought she should be mini me but because she always admired them)
It’s another big birthday for her soon and she is getting a simple but classic diamond solitaire necklace

Please can I have your recommendations for daughter's 18th birthday present
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/08/2021 09:27

I got a travel vanity case and big leather jewellery box. Have both still in 30s.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 27/08/2021 09:29

It's impossible, I don't know your daughter. I wasn't in touch with my daughter on her 18th.

Rubyupbeat · 27/08/2021 09:38

18 grand engraved Rolex
Grin
Come on you know your own daughter, you shouldn't have to ask strangers.

CrackerGal · 27/08/2021 09:38

Not personalised but I got my daughter a Tiffany's necklace of her choice (within a budget) as a keepsake.
The charm bracelet with 18 charm on it sounds good if you specifically want 18 on it?

CrackerGal · 27/08/2021 09:38

That was for her 18th I meant to say.

AnonymousCheerleader · 27/08/2021 09:39

Something from Tiffany

icedcoffees · 27/08/2021 09:40

Getting her something (other than a cake or card) with the number 18 on it seems a bit of a waste of money - she won't want to wear it after a few weeks, let alone a year.

I got a diamond necklace for my eighteenth.

violetbunny · 27/08/2021 09:45

I would either get her something practical that will help set her up for the future (like the driving lessons as suggested) or something she can actually treasure for a long time, e.g. a classic piece of jewellery.

Something with "18" on it sounds a bit tacky, sorry OP.
