What word do you use for this autumn based activity

You are in a park in autumn and there are piles of leaves on the ground.

What word, if any, would you use to describe moving through those leaves?

e.g. They were / They through the leaves.

Testing a theory!

Scuffling to me is rooting out weeds.

RaininSummer · 27/08/2021 12:45

I scuffle through leaves.

FudgeSundae · 27/08/2021 13:03

If you said to me you’d been scuffling, or even leaf scuffling, I wouldn’t have a clue what you meant, sorry.
But I’d figure it out if you said “I went scuffling through the leaves.”

Kicking. As in "Through Autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way".

Kicking

BogRollBOGOF · 27/08/2021 19:22

Kicking through the leaves.

Although specifically in autumn 2020 in response to repeated posters repeatedly suggesting leafy walks as an apparently novel and complete way to pass an entire season of increasingly restricted life, I definitely "trudged" or "squelched" a lot. Grin

Kicking

GoodMorrowFairMaiden · 27/08/2021 20:44

I’d just walk and be walking through the leaves.
My dc may run and kick up the leaves.

SciFiScream · 27/08/2021 21:32

I've never, ever heard or read the word scuffling before tonight (Scotland).

I was going to suggest dancing/danced

Handsnotwands · 27/08/2021 22:03

A scuffle is a scrap / fight / altercation

But then I’d be kicking the leaves. Perhaps I’m more violent than I thought Confused

CRUNCHY LEAVES!

Sorry. We bypass grammar, there.
