Are there any stores or companies you refuse to shop from or deal with?

As the thread title says - I have just decided to shop anywhere except a major high street electrical / computer company from now onwards after a couple of poor customer service issues. I shopped there from convenience, but I'm fed up with them now.
This got me thinking. I avoid any MLM, even though I really like some products I was given as a gift, and stores with poor ethics regarding production, worker treatment, etc.
Do you have any you actively avoid?

Body Shop
Nando
Lush
Ryanair

Toys R Us when they were still going after they sold me an obviously returned item that was broken and had kids writing on the inside of the box, ruining Christmas morning, and called me a liar when I tried to return it.

IKEA after a 5 month long delivery debacle that had me literally crying down the phone to them out of frustration at one point.

Terriah · 30/08/2021 09:39

Boohoo. I'm sure I've told the story but they still owe me £30 and even the CEO is ignoring me.

I signed my dog up to a subscription food service, Tails.com

He liked their wet food but not the kibble. I asked if I could remove the (giant bag of) kibble from the order but they refused. I cancelled the whole subscription and now they won't leave me alone.

Initially, I thought they were great but it's really feckin irritating that they don't allow you to change the order to suit your dog. Idiocy.

Amazon! I refuse to put any money into such an unethical company.

Agadorsparticus · 30/08/2021 10:14

Currys, took over a month to chase a refund from a return. They had no working emails and did not answer the phone. I had to put in a claim with PayPal in the end.

Brewdog.

The recent revelations have justified my stance but actually it stems from an incident not long after the Birmingham branch opened. Went in with DH for a quick drink, ordered two pints of something and the barmaid poured massive heads on the beers and then tried to argue with me about topping them up. Never set foot in a Brewdog since.

I’ve missed whatever it is too. Likewise Bupa was mentioned and not sure why either.

The aversion to 'Lush' been fairly well covered in this thread. You really only have to Google 'Lush controversy' and it all comes up.

Dyson, a vocal brexiteer who then took his business to Singapore and doesn't pay uk tax

BluTangClan · 30/08/2021 18:47

Dyson - Not for his Brexit stance, just because he's a bellend.

Orla Kiely - Stores suddenly went into administration, but the multimillionaire didn't pay staff their final wages.

Anything Harry Potter related - Not for JKR's Trans stance, just because she's made a fortune from pillaged ideas and trite writing (and she just doesn't seem like a very nice person).

JKR lost her billionaire status because she donated $160 million to charity and paid her taxes properly.

Where do you get this “she just doesn't seem like a very nice person” from?

PathOfLeastResitance · 30/08/2021 20:40

It’s Clark’s in Haywards Heath. No shame from me about naming them. The butchers is in a very by close village but I don’t want to name openly as that’s mean on a small business.

Someone I know has worked with JKR on something and the person said she was lovely, and interested in what was happening , what the other person had to say, very approachable and kind. She has put her money where her money is in many ways over the years, and still is.
Rhannion · 30/08/2021 22:34

Mouth is that should say. She built a whole Centre in Edinburgh to research MS and that’s an amazing thing to do, plus all the charities that she helps.

PathOfLeastResitance · 30/08/2021 22:36

My reply was to @MilesJuppIsMyBitch

OhWhyNot · 30/08/2021 23:03

Virgin Media after I complained to them about a worker of theirs sexually harassing me. They were not interested at all complained more than once no one called back. I called the police they were very interested and interviewed myself and him and he was warned to never contact me again or he would be charged. Suddenly Virgin were interested when the police got in contact with them. Shockingly bad way to treat a customer wonder what they were like to work for if you put in a complaint

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 31/08/2021 08:43

Ah, it's a different one @PathOfLeastResitance . Given that another poster has also said the same about her local branch of Clarks, I'm starting to question their recruitment policies...
