Better weather!

Blueleah · 25/08/2021 00:00

The government funded childcare and excellent schools that they have in Scandinavian countries.

IceLace100 · 25/08/2021 00:16

Better food.

More fresh veg and fruit. Better quality produce available to all. People taking more care over their meals generally. (Include myself in this.)

Probs someone thinking "I take care over my food". Good for you! I just think your average joe eats more fresh produce in some other countries (France, Italy for example), and the quality of affordable food is much better generally.

I spent a year working in the USA. One thing I have always admired about Americans is their unashamed patriotism and pride in their country. In the small towns you see the flag on many houses and people stand at football games for the national anthem. Americans also value their troops and their veterans.

In the UK you dare not fly a flag because its might upset some minorities. British people shuffle out awkwardly rather than stand for the anthem.

You are not allowed to express pride in being British because you might upset the woke/snowflake brigade.

sorryforswearing · 25/08/2021 00:55

Different attitude to alcohol meaning less drunkenness and better behaviour.

People taking more responsibility for keeping Britain tidy so less littering, fly tipping, vandalism etc.

AelgenVsPreDator · 25/08/2021 01:08

Secure long term tenancies as an alternative to having to buy property

Affordable street food

GintyMcGinty · 25/08/2021 01:13

Better weather
Siestas
Better education system
Better attitude to alcohol
Better attitude towards older people and families
Swedish childcare
Swedish amazing maternal and paternal leave

Although on the last 2 we do actually have pretty good childcare and maternal leave in comparison to many countries

romdowa · 25/08/2021 01:36

I'd like the NHS here in Ireland, the hse sucks.

Mintjulia · 25/08/2021 01:42

The cleanliness of the Nordic countries. Much less litter

midsomermurderess · 25/08/2021 01:47

Government serving its people, like in the Nordic countries, rather than being a vehicle for enrichment of ministers and incompetents who are awarded contracts to provide inadequate services.

pinksquash13 · 25/08/2021 01:49

SCHEDULED NAPS FOR ADULTS

Mintjulia · 25/08/2021 02:38

Definitely siestas.

I had that week in July when it was 32 degrees, off work, and the best thing was having a siesta every day between 2 and 4. It felt so decadent Grin

L1ttleSeahorse · 25/08/2021 02:41

Inwant naps for adults. Where does that?

I would like bigger houses.

DeathOnTheNile · 25/08/2021 02:51

Free university. Subsidised dental care. More things being open later, not just pubs and clubs.

Kinsters · 25/08/2021 03:27

I live in Malaysia and from the UK I'd like to bring a little bit of the UK's cooler weather plus better maternity.

For the UK I'd like Malaysia's healthcare system (ie cheap private options) and to send over a little bit of Malaysia's heat. Oh and the food.

Dryadia · 25/08/2021 03:51

Less humidity and changeable weather, would love more dry heat in the summer and cold not wet winters . I spent my teens in Germany and we lived at the open air pools for the entire summer holidays every year.

Even when we lived in the foothills of the Harz Mountains, the summers were still really warm and dry. The winters were thick snow, did not feel too cold but rarely damp. I miss deep snow for weeks on end.

SpicyJalfrezi · 25/08/2021 04:02

In France, bins are emptied daily.

I think fortnightly is revolting!

bert3400 · 25/08/2021 04:09

I wish the UK would adopt the Mediterranean ethos of families welcome anywhere anytime. The evening are for everyone, not just pissed up 'Yoofs'. Families walking and strolling late in the evening is such a wonderful environment to be in.

Omg yes, this!

In that case the UK would need to get over the obsession with putting children to bed ridiculously early.
AdriannaP · 25/08/2021 04:20

Better paid and longer maternity leave
Free or very low cost childcare (everyone I know in Europe has access to free nurseries or pays tiny amounts for full time place)
Better quality housing
Paid leave to look after sick children and family members

AdriannaP · 25/08/2021 04:23

Better maternal care in hospitals - everyone I know who had a baby in other European countries had access to same midwife and/or consultant throughout, more scans, better postnatal care including hospital care and access to free mother/baby recovery classes focused on mums.
