Rightmove - have you ever seen a smaller bedroom than this?

And it's not a boxroom or a 3rd bedroom - it's the only one!

Wow the whole house seems very small and cramped!

DuesToTheDirt · 24/08/2021 21:09

The only good thing I can say about it is that at least you could hoover, dust, tidy up the whole of that doll sized house in less than 3 minutes!

But where would you keep the hoover?

it looks like a caravan bedroom

Bythemillpond · 24/08/2021 21:09

Well my only question is...... where is the loo roll

No room for loo roll

SirenSays · 24/08/2021 21:09

The size of houses in England shocks me. I went to look at what was advertised as a one bed flat. It was actually a bedsit. A single bed pushed against one wall. A compact kitchenette, no bigger than a wardrobe was just opposite with the bathroom behind. If my arms were six inches longer I could have laid in bed, turned the cooker on and flushed the toilet all at the same time.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/08/2021 21:09

It looks like they've made room for a hospital bed.

LoislovesStewie · 24/08/2021 21:10

Under environmental health legislation a bedroom has to be at least 70 square feet. If it's not ;it's not a bedroom.

PickAChew · 24/08/2021 21:11

Looking at nearby prices, it's meant to be a studio and the bedroom is meant to be a dressing area - there are a few of them sold in the past few years.

One assumes Mr Skinny is on the move, but perhaps Mr. Small will find it spacious enough?

CloudsOfCeonothus · 24/08/2021 21:13

I thought this loft bedroom was small enough.

3.50m x 2.45 but I reckon they measured the stairs in that Grin

RamblingFar · 24/08/2021 21:13

Presumably it's because the main bedroom is the loft and that's not an allowed bedroom due to the ladder. Since they want to advertise it as 1 bedroom, they need to squeeze a bed in somewhere else.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/08/2021 21:18

Eight foot six inches by three foot eleven. That's under 34 square foot - and around 3 square foot of that will be unusable due to needing the bathroom door to open. That 'bed' is about 24 inches wide (so probably a couple of planks of wood with no mattress).

That's not a bedroom or a bungalow. That's somebody trying to make a fortune from a garage fire hazard

Mummyoflittledragon · 24/08/2021 21:19

There’s a 40m2 1 bed house for 184,950 in kenilworth. Piffle. It must be at least 3 beds with 15 extra square metres. Just need to extend the cupboard under the stairs and divide the upstairs bedroom in half…

Confusedandshaken · 24/08/2021 21:19

I'm sure the schools in Kenilworth are excellent but I don't think this will appeal to anyone with school age children! Unless the child lives there on their own.

Lockheart · 24/08/2021 21:21

@GreenNotebook

Yep. A friend lived in a place that could accommodate a bunk bed, room to get down from the bunk bed and nothing else at all. It was her daughters room. And honestly this thread comes across as sneary.
I don't think it's sneery, more a comment on the horrendous state of the bloated UK housing bubble that something with rooms which appear to be illegally small and fire hazards can still cost £155k.
Marguerite2000 · 24/08/2021 21:21

It's really badly planned out. I bet a clever architect could do wonders with it.

TeeBee · 24/08/2021 21:28

Omg, the entire house is so tiny. Still, you'd never put on any weight...you couldn't afford to; you'd never get in!

Msfoxy17 · 24/08/2021 21:29

I'm loving the estate agent speak too
Fantastic first time buy, oh yes definitely! Perfect downsize, yes I'm hoping to move somewhere just like this in my retirement!
Youd have to hope whoever sleeps in that bed isn't tall and kicks about in bed or else they'll be kicking the little shelf in their sleep...
I am used to London and SE prices but I am perplexed by £155k for this.

Whatamesssss · 24/08/2021 21:29

Bungalow Grin It is a studio flat with ideas of grandeur.

Had exactly the same near me. Described as a semi detached 1 Bed Bungalow, it was just a studio flat which was attached on 2 sides to other houses. Also for sale for way over what it would actually achieve. It hasn't sold for the last 3 years. It goes on the market then off again.

IrishMumInLondon2020 · 24/08/2021 21:30

I actually feel a bit sick looking at those photos.

SoundBar · 24/08/2021 21:33

It looks awful. Not a proper house at all. Someone is taking the utter mick

Coffeeonmytoffee · 24/08/2021 21:33

My friend bought a 3 bedroom detached house but the third 'bedroom' couldn't take a proper single bed.
I think the definition of a bedroom is it fitting in a proper bed

Evenstar · 24/08/2021 21:35

I viewed a very old farmhouse where there was literally a cupboard with a tiny window over the stairwell which had been used as a bedroom. The owners were downsizing for retirement, but two of their children had actually slept in there on 2ft 6” bunk beds which touched the wall and the sliding door at each end and allowed about 6” of floor space to get into bed.

Firsttimecatlady · 24/08/2021 21:36

@user1471530109

That's a very weird floorplan! The bedroom seems to have been made from the shower room or vice versa?
Yes! That’s it!! The ‘bedroom’ has the same floor tiles as the shower room- they’ve literally just put a partition with door down the middle of the bathroom- wonder if they’ve wallpapered directly over tiles… Hmm. No judgement of the people living there btw- it looks like it was created to meet a need- adult child living at home maybe, or even divorced couple forced to keep cohabiting?? Who knows- and in that case, the loft set up probably worked really well- bigger bathroom, “bedroom” in the loft etc. problem comes when they need to sell- and leads to mad ‘fake bed in bathroom’ mock up! £155k though- for a studio- jeezzzz, my northern purse just snapped a little bit tighter shut.. Wink
Twitchynose · 24/08/2021 21:36

Ahh brings back memories of my first house (admittedly it was a bit bigger than that though. A teeny terraced 2 up 2 down. The second “bedroom” was too small for a standard bed 6’ x 5’ 3”. Don’t know the measurements for the bathroom, but if I stood in the middle of it I could touch the opposite walls with my hands in both directions. It was too small for a normal bath but had a a shower over deep bath with sort of seat built into it, something like this www.plumbworld.co.uk/roca-contesa-single-ended-hip-bath-with-integrated-seat-1000-x-700mm-213100001-1798-1267003
