I can’t beleive he was 80 and still in a rock band. A life well lived and he always seemed like a gentleman, the others will be gutted I’m sure.

Who’d have thought Keef would outlive him.

Cracking drummer and lovely bloke. RIP.

I love this little story

One anecdote relates that in the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Jagger phoned Watts's hotel room in the middle of the night, asking, "Where's my drummer?" Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: "Don't ever call me your drummer again. You're my fucking singer!"[18]

oh that is sad

BikeRunSki · 24/08/2021 17:59

And yet Keith Richards lives on.

Lonelycrab · 24/08/2021 18:00

Was never a massive fan but this is really sad, it felt like somehow they’d always be there and never stop going. RIP Charlie

Selkiesarereal · 24/08/2021 18:04

Aww poor Charlie, thought that was so cool on stage looking bemused by the others.

fourquenelles · 24/08/2021 18:04

Married to Shirley for 57 years and appears to have been eschewed groupies. A gentle gentleman.

JorisBonson · 24/08/2021 18:05

What a life the man had. Sleep well Charlie

megletthesecond · 24/08/2021 18:09

He did life well didn't he. RIP.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/08/2021 18:18

@BikeRunSki

And yet Keith Richards lives on.
I always assume the vast amount of substances Keef has consumed have effectively pickled him.

Bit taken aback by how upset I feel that Charlie's gone. 80 isn't much of an age these days. I wonder if the Stones will now call it a day.

Geamhradh · 24/08/2021 18:22

Gosh.
You just sort of thought they were eternal.
Star RIP Charlie.

BikeRunSki · 24/08/2021 18:24

I suspect you’re right @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g!

Cam2020 · 24/08/2021 18:27

I always assume the vast amount of substances Keef has consumed have effectively pickled him.

I was able to say the exact same thing! RIP Charlie.

SylviasMotherSaid · 24/08/2021 18:27

Probably my favourite band of all time I am strangely sad about this even though Charlie had a wonderful life but it’s hard seeing any of your teenage idols pass away . Just Mick and Keith left now

80 isn't much of an age these days

Oh come on! It's a bloody good age to reach- half of us won't get there.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/08/2021 18:38

Nonsense. The vast majority of the UK's population will live to over 70, and the majority will reach 80, which would have been unimaginable a few decades ago.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/08/2021 18:41

Life expectancy at birth in the UK in 2017 to 2019 was 79.4 years for males and 83.1 years for females - so if born in 2018 you can expect to live that long.

Life expectancy at age 65 years was 18.8 years for males and 21.1 years for females - so if you reached 65 by 2018, i.e you were born in 1953, you can expect to live to 84 if you're male and 86 if you're female.

May he rest in peace and thoughts for his family and friends.

DupontsLark · 24/08/2021 18:43

I'll have a look at your link Gasp but 80 is still old.

MMM2 · 24/08/2021 18:44

Thanks for the music Charlie, R.I.P.

Surprised he made it to 80 to be honest but RIP

BrozTito · 24/08/2021 18:53

The thought of jagger saying 'drumma' in his awful accent has made me need to lie down.
