Suggestions for a lovely place for a girls' weekend in the middle of England?

I'm looking for ideas for a really nice place to stay for a girls' weekend. Travelling from Surrey and York so looking for something relatively central. We'd like somewhere which ideally has a pool or spa treatments but also country walks close by. Rural or small country town rather than urban.

Pretty decent budget, £150-£200 per night per twin room.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest Bath
Lovely spa plus near countryside and lots of nice restaurants

Harrogate. Betty’s tea rooms.
Probably more north than you want, but ideal.

Stratford?

Cheltenham. Surrounded by the Cotswolds, a nice size town, lovely places to eat and drink, nice independent shops.

Whittlebury hall is lovely but might be more than £100 each.

Champneys Springs in Leicestershire. It's more than your budget ( £300 per twin room per night) but includes all meals, snacks, access to classes, gym, pool, sauna etc etc. It's a nice area for walks and pottering and has a modern but completely relaxed feel.
You can pay more for specific treatments but it's nice enough to hang out and use the included amenities without spending a penny more...and you get free slippers 😄.

Ignore everything I just put. That's the midweek price, not weekend.

Lichfield is nice.

I came on to say Whittlebury Hall - Northamptonshire.

Fawsley Hall also beautiful.

Warwick or Stratford.
Former has lots of nice independent restaurants/bars and shops (and access to nice walks etc), but I can't think of a hotel with pool/spa off the top of my head. Not in town anyway... Rose & Crown and Globe are both nice boutiquey hotels (pubs with rooms, but posher than that sounds!)

Latter has a lot of hotels (some with pools etc), but has much more of a tourist focus.

Cheltenham is nice too, but not as easy to access from your locations.

Ragdale Hall in Leicestershire?

Oxford/Cotswolds. LOADS of spa hotels around and plenty to do too.

Out of your budget for a stay, but I've always fancied a visit to Thyme and you might be able to stretch to rooms at Cowley Manor - they have deals sometimes which make it affordable.

Hoar Cross Hall is lovely

I live near Stratford, there's a few spa hotels: the Ardencote and Billesley Manor nearby, and the Welcombe. Welcombe is walking distance into town, others are more rural.
