When will payday be?

Sorry this is a quick post as just can’t seem to find an answer online but wanted a consensus.

I usually get paid the last day of the month, and that’s the day after bank holiday this month. A friend has had an awful break up (devastated) and asked if I’d go up to hers for the weekend.

The thing is, I’ve got pre payday blues (been a heavy month as had lots of outgoings) and I’d like to go. Friend thinks I’ll get paid on the Friday, as Monday is a no banking day so won’t be in for Tuesday. Other friend says it’ll be Tuesday

So I guess my question is, Friday or Tuesday?

if you get paid the last day of the month then it will be tues 31st
only way it would be early is if your payday fell on a bank holiday or the weekend which august wont

I would have thought you will get paid Tues still . We get paid day before last working day of month so we will get paid the Friday .

Tuesday. Monday may not be a banking day but the Tuesday is so I can't see why that matters? Sorry it's not what you want to hear! 🙈

I’m getting paid the Tuesday, which is a bum when it’s a bank holiday.

It's Tuesday. The bank holiday being the Monday has zero affect

Tuesday. If payday had fallen on the BH Monday it would have gone in on Friday but Tuesday is a normal day.

Can't you just ask work?

I don't think they are allowed to pay you late - it risks people's mortgage payments etc bouncing if they are set up to pay automatically.

Employers usually pay early if they can't pay on the usual day.

However, I'm not sure a BH makes any difference these days unless the payroll is manual in any way.

My boss thinks that it’s Friday as the money is normally deposited the day before payday and obviously can’t be on a BH.

But nobody else thinks that so who knows 😩

Tuesday . Unless you were due to get paid on the Monday, the bank hol is irrelevant

They'll deposit it on Friday and you'll get paid on Tuesday, as a general rule.

It will be Tuesday. These days with UC no employer would pay early.

It depends how it's paid, and how the person doing payroll has set it up. If they're paying you by BACS (check your statement to see how you were paid last month) they will have nominated the date. If the nominated date is 31st/last day of month I'd expect you will get the money on Tuesday.

Tuesday. As normal. Unless your employer specifically moves the pay date.

I get paid on the last working day of the month. That means this month it's Tuesday 31st. The issue of Monday being a non-banking day would only be of any relevance if you have never been paid on a Monday. If it mattered that Monday was a BH then every time you are due to be paid on a Monday it would be affected by the Sunday being a holiday, which it isn't.

Ok having this discussion with DH tonight, he’s paid last day of month, his money gets deposited at the very beginning of the day, so on the turn of midnight, as Monday is BH, I reckon this transaction will take place last thing Friday and will be showing in his account from Saturday, pretty sure this has happened before. I had it recently when my payday was a Monday, I checked my account Sat morning and was there.

I'm with Monzo, which gives me the benefit of choosing to receive the money on the day it is posted after 4pm....so I'm getting paid on Friday 😎

I've rubbed this in a few people's faces today...and they fuming 😅
