Apparently the queen is considering taking legal action to stop the verbal attacks on the royal family.

Call them 'celebrities' all you like, but just remember Harry will always be either the grandson, son, or brother of the British Monarch.
Let that sink in.
It is his birthright, his relations, his family.
I find it amusing that the word 'celebrity' is used as an insult, I really do. And it's desperate... oooh, let's criticise them for being famous and having money!
Ridiculous.

He will always be Prince Harry... unless something untoward happens with Andrew. I doubt it though.

Atbb be least celebrities earn their money and don’t sit around waiting for taxpayers money to swan about waving and cutting ribbon. Also, the wealth of celebrities are not based on a history of enslaving others, Mudoti good relatives, etc. Much more to be proud of in being a celebrity than living off ill gotten gains.

Grin don’t know what Mudoti good relatives mean or why my phone autocorrected to it.

Stepping away from phone now.

wow Why2why - the word celebrities upsets you a lot....

Please insert own descriptor: in US monarchy and titles aren't recognised and they're not visiting dignatries etc private life selling stories on the ex-life in RF they announced.

couple of wealthy .......insert what makes you happy here - on journey to make themselves very wealthy attracts defenders that sound plain daft lauding H&M for using that tax vehicle.

Can't see Harry's family welcoming him as family any time soon - about as likely as M inviting Thomas to christmas lunch I suppose.

Billandben444 · 26/08/2021 19:13

It's the beginning of the end anyway. If there's a monarchy left after William I'll eat my hat
You must be a lot younger than I am - I'll just have to make sure my hat's buried with me 😁

Upset about the word celebrity? Why would I be? I have to work hard for a living. Neither celebrity or Royalty pays my wage. However, my taxes pay towards Royalty. Do the idea there is a view that they are somehow superior to celebrity is a joke. That’s what I am questioning. The Royals with their history, behaviours, et have no claim to be superior to anyone; not in looks, achievements, morality or physical prowess.

I hope Harry and Meghan do not welcome that toxic family into their lives.

Oh yeah you're clearly just here cos you find them hilarious.

Definitely taking no pleasure in slagging off folk you don't know based on supposition and media hype.

Lovely

Why2why · 26/08/2021 19:21

The whole idea of a Royal Family is ridiculous. Worse still those who bear this title have so much unbecoming baggage that is it now worse than a joke.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/08/2021 19:43

@Puzzledandpissedoff

What happens with Andrew is largely out of her hands

Whose, the Queen's?

I wouldn't quite say that, given the influence she has and the past form for meddlng in legal issues

The British Legal system maybe? The Feds, I doubt it.
Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/08/2021 19:49

@derxa

Grin Sorry but I'm howling at Andrew having a book out this month.
Me too GrinGrin

@Billandben444 Actually I'm not that young, I think I may well be buried with my hat!

@Puzzledandpissedoff

BringBackThinEyebrows posting in haste, but the obvious example would be HM's ability to veto legislation which affects her - used for all manner of things, not least to hide her shareholdings

Then, of course, there's what happened with Burrell ...

Latest example of HM's ability to manipulate proposed legislation in her favour is to get Balmoral exempted from compulsory purchase.

The only person in Scotland who is exempt and that's on top of getting the tax bill on shooting at the estate slashed to a lower rate than local pubs and restaurants:

@Pixxie7

I think it is the only way she feels that she can protect the future of the monarchy. I feel so sorry for her with this and Prince Andrew, she shouldn’t have to deal with this at her age.
I don't feel sorry for her at all. She created what Prince Andrew is and enabled him, and defends him. And I don't believe she has dealt with anything with dignity, whether it be the week Diana died, how she handled Charles and Camilla, how she made Charles shake her hand when he was only a little boy and her son, how she makes her relatives like Harry bow/curtsey to her every single time she walks into a room at home, how she enabled Philip to make racist comments, I could go on and on and on and on. People say she is 'dignified'. Don't know how! She is appalling imo. She is an appalling woman. And she deserves every bit of humiliation.
Pixxie7 · 26/08/2021 20:16

all SamiReed1@ your entitled to your opinion but many would disagree with you. A lot of what you said is based on assumptions. However I do have to agree with you about PA.

OP posts:
Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/08/2021 20:32

Ihopeyourcakeisshit yes, I meant the British system since even HM might struggle to control the American version

However it's through the British one that she could control access to her ghastly family, no matter what they'd done

Why2why · 26/08/2021 20:57

You’ve laid this out pretty well. I agree with you and now see the Queen more clearly.

Apart from being unhappy about paying taxes to find such a ridiculous institution, I don’t give the Queen much thought but I think it is right that her behaviour is scrutinised more. More now that she is still alive than after she dies.

I do think though that with her death, many Commonwealth countries will hasten the drive to shed this archaic colonial past. It’s embarrassing to them and the younger generation will not abide by the idea that they must honour an institution whose wealth is based on the subjugation of their country and people.

AnnunciataZ · 26/08/2021 21:21

You make good points @SamiReed1.

Why2why · 26/08/2021 21:55

Agreed and my previous post was aimed @SamiReed1. Really thought provoking.

Roussette · 26/08/2021 22:14

I cannot feel sorry for the Queen despite her many years, and although she has shown her dedication to duty which is admirable... she has' created the monster which is PA.

So so wrong. He has been allowed to rampage round the RF with a sense of entitlement, cosying up to despots, taking backhanders, misusing taxes, and using his position for personal gain and enjoyment.

More than twenty years ago the Queen 'showed some concern' on his r/ship with Epstein, his Trade envoy position.... well... what good did that do. Nothing. Warnings to him for removal of privileges and titles might have avoided this shitshow we have now.

And no I don't consider H&M are part of that. They've left, and lots on here will hate the fact that they are loved by many in the US. A huge loss for us and a massive gain for them.
Loads of royals write books saying how miserable they are. If Harry writes anything derogatory, it'll be forgotten in a few years. But the PA situation won't be forgotten
That is what is going to affect the monarchy in the future.

stairway · 26/08/2021 23:12

To be fair to the Queen, she never wanted the position, if the Uncle hadn’t abdicated she wouldn’t no double had a much simpler and more pleasant life. She was not able to bring up her children herself because of her position and all of her children have suffered for it. Prince Andrew is obviously the worst of the bunch.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/08/2021 23:23

Too late I'm afraid. They'd started to appear lukewarm to the idea of having Charles as their Head, so the Queen actually stated that's what she wanted and, presumably out of loyalty to her, they went along with it (I'll try to find you a link tomorrow)

A bit tragic when mummy has to beg for a job for you, but not to worry ... by the time he's told them everything that's wrong in today's world and how they should be living a few times, they might just overturn their decision

As Edward had no children , HM would still have ended up as monarch .

WinnieTheW0rm · 27/08/2021 08:02

Yes, but about 20 years later than she did. So her life with her young family would have been completely different
