I'm off to town today to check a dormant account.

I've had a letter from Santander to say I have q dormant Instant Saver account so I am heading into town to find out how much is in there.

Anyone want to help guess?

For background, I opened the account over 15 years ago and at that time was earning about £28k.

I drove a new car and saved up enough to travel the world, but what is left in this forgotten account.

Did I stash a cheeky grand. Or £100 to open it. Or is it empty or maybe containing £4.36.

I'm quite excited.

What do you all think?

The ads I'm seeing in this thread are for TUI sun soaked Spanish beaches. Let's hope that's a good sign!

This reminds me of a few years ago I went to do an exchange year in the US, but came back after a month and finished my studies here. I was fully refunded my accommodation and meal vouchers at the time.

Fast forward 4 years I received a letter through the post saying the US college had carried out an audit and determined I was owed money. There was an accompanying check for £5,000 in my name!!

Now there was no way I was owed £5,000 as I had been a poor student and ensured I got back every penny I was owed back. The only thing I could think of was as I'm from Scotland and we don't pay tuition fees, but I still had to apply each year for the government to pay my fees so wondering if I'm wondering if the US college gave me money in relation to that.

I didn't ask any further questions, banked the check and nobody has come looking for the money in the subsequent 15 years :-)
