Trigeminal nueralgia nothing else comes close

MinnieJackson · 19/08/2021 22:21

@TheWatersofMarch yes ibuprofen, otc co-codamol, ora gel Mac strength and a brandy mouthwash. Hope you get sorted soon!

anotherdeadorchid · 19/08/2021 22:23

Breaking my femur and having whole body spasms if I tried to move. Toothache is excruciating though, feel better soon!

@2020newbie sorry if I'm ignorant, is that the condition with headaches so bad no painkillers touch it, and sufferers are past caring about cures?

Nat6999 · 19/08/2021 22:45

I had an abcess last week, I'm housebound & can't get to the dentist, I rang & begged for antibiotics & was refused. It wasn't until the day after when ds rang & told them I was shivering with the infection that I got a prescription. I had taken every mix of painkillers but couldn't get rid of the pain.

Induction with overstimulation and no access to pain relief

Darbs76 · 19/08/2021 22:58

My worse pain has been acute pancreatitis which I’ve had 4 times, nasty attacks too (caused by gallstones which were awful but not as bad as pancreatitis.) I had a ruptured appendix which was pretty painful too

Greenbuttonsbluebuttons · 19/08/2021 22:58

Drip induction. But at least there’s reward at the end.

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 19/08/2021 23:13

When I slipped a disc in my spine which then triggered the sciatica. They gave me 5 different painkillers in A&E and they didn't touch it.
Also Geniculate Neuralgia which isn't described as "an icepick through the ear" for nothing.
I'd much rather give birth than either of these.

Trigeminal Neuralgia

Never known pain like it

As someone said earlier - it's known as the suicide disease - and I can see why....

QuestionableMouse · 19/08/2021 23:26

You can ring 111 and should be able to see an emergency dentist.

2020newbie · 19/08/2021 23:28

@MinnieJackson it affects normally one side of a persons face but can affect both. For me it’s left side I can draw a line down the centre of my face where it stops. It’s like having a migraine tooth ache and biting down on an electric fence all in one for me. The electric shock feeling in my teeth are the hardest thing to cope with. No painkillers work the only thing that keeps it at bay is anticonvulsants but even then during a flare up they can be useless.

I honestly have nothing to compare it to.

Kakiweewee · 19/08/2021 23:33

In my experience:

Kidney stones, with infection and colic
Gallstones and colic

Worst of all is trigeminal neuralgia triggering migraine. It's degenerative and I'm not sure how I'm gonna manage it later on in life.

Sillybillymillyvanilly · 20/08/2021 10:12

I suffer from trigeminal neuralgia. I haven't had a flare up since the start of the year but live in fear of it knowing its going to get worse over time, more frequent and more painful. It's like being hit repeatedly in the face with a cattle prod. You end up in a heap on the floor.

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/08/2021 10:12

Ear ache 😱

Hen2018 · 20/08/2021 15:32

I’ve never had toothache but I present to you.

4th - labour
3rd - meningitis headache
2nd - a gruesome accident which ripped my toe nail off

And the winner

  1. frozen shoulder
latte101 · 20/08/2021 15:34

Nope. Ruptured appendix did it for me. And the pain post-op.

ISpyCobraKai · 20/08/2021 15:36

Breaking your back, with accompanying crack noise.

latte101 · 20/08/2021 15:37

And the migraines I had in early pregnancy.

This is the pregnancy after my son where I was in labour for 40hrs and needed an episiotomy and forceps then them rummaging around after to fish my placenta out.

My caesarean nearly a year ago was a walk in the park.

Candyapple49 · 20/08/2021 17:38

Ring 111 op and they should refer you to a same day emergency dentist . They will do a temporary filling to last until you can see your own dentist . We are already registered with a dentist but my husband cracked a tooth one Saturday and we didn’t have to wait until Monday , he was given an appointment within hours at an emergency centre in the next town x

Amdone123 · 20/08/2021 17:58

@Candyapple49, I never knew that. Good to know. Thanks!

Candyapple49 · 20/08/2021 18:16

Phone now and good luck 💕.
To answer the original question I think relentless tooth ache is the worst . I had an infected tooth and was actually banging my head against the pillow . It’s agony .

Twinkie01 · 20/08/2021 18:34

Ruptured ovarian cyst is the worst pain I've ever felt. Throwing up then passing out because I think my body couldn't think of what else to do. (hitting my head on a kerbstone on the way down).

I've never really had toothache though.

AngeloMysterioso · 20/08/2021 18:40

I’d take another 23 hour back to back labour over the toothache I had last time. It felt like the whole left side of my head was caving in

Waxlyrically · 20/08/2021 18:42

Toothache is definitely on the leadership board but for me it’s the agony that is thrombosed piles. You can’t even tell anyone what’s wrong, can’t sit down, can’t concentrate and the toilet becomes your own personal torture chamber! Childbirth every time over those.
