Quirky London tourist attractions

Hey all
I know London very well and usually only visit family there but my 16 yo ds and I have a few days there next week and we want to do some stuff.
We've done all the usual tourist stuff, so looking for some hidden gems?!
DS loves anything geeky. He's obsessed with Japanese culture too. Art is good, museums if they're really engaging... Anything goes really!
Anyone got any good ones?

There's the Van Gogh immersive experience which is a 360 degree digital art exhibition of his work. It's fully booked for this weekend though.

It looks mental!

I’m keen to try this Virtual Reality arcade which is in East London

I personally wouldn’t make a trip especially to see Leake St / Banksy Tunnel since it’s long since been graffitied over by other “artists” but worth a wander if you’re near Waterloo. There was a Vans store in the tunnel - not sure it survived lockdown.

Not Quirky but a bit different to other London Museums is the Museum of London at the Barbican

@ChessieFL this is my favourite museum ever! You’ll love it.

If you fancy something active, walk some of the Thames Path. Or hire bikes and cycle it. You'll see lots along the way.

I took DH to this in York as a surprise for his birthday last year. We both loved it

No, I haven't - I just recognised the artist's name - dh saw his work in Times Square a few years ago but that was only a five minute performance I think.

@Davros

DH and I did a candlelit tour of Denis Severs house. You weren't allowed to talk or make any unnecessary noise. Of course we got the giggles and had to leave ASAP
@Davros I really want to do this!
Fluffyandsilly · 24/08/2021 22:31

@WouldBeGood there are two My Neighbours The Dumplings restaurants but neither are in Central, they’re in East London. There’s one in Clapton and one by Victoria Park. The food is excellent at a decent price.

@Davros I also got the giggles at Denis Severs house because DH stroked Madge, the live in cat and she bit him Grin I am actually getting the giggles now just remembering it.
The house was an interesting attraction to visit though.

Just found this thread. Fantastic ideas.

I'll add one of my own, Greenwich for the zero longitude line (and a walk around the market)) in the park and a planetarium show (it's a very small planetarium but that's part of the charm!)
