Copied from a FB post

Tonight not tomorrow tonight we desperately need the help of each and everyone.

Practical action please can everyone tweet Boris Johnson and your own mp and post on their facebook pages and instragrams with #Nowzad animal shelter Afghanistan, save its staff from certain death.

For those who don’t know Nowzad set up the first ever animal shelter in Afghanistan its has dogs, cats and even donkeys. It was set up by former royal marine Pen Farthing. It trains young women and has trained 500 young vets since it started. They will be seen as British collaborators and face certain death and for the women worse, if the 25 staff and their families are not got to the safety of the UK. Please act now as they Nowzad did for the Afghan people and our troops. Tomorrow is too late it has to tonight.

Ben Wallace has just tweeted that the staff are cleared and will be processed and if he is with animals they will seek a slot for his plane, if that can't be done they will go on an RAF flight without animals.

WanderingFruitWonderer · 25/08/2021 05:24

@Errno thank you for that info and link. I want to help with the Afghan situation as much as I can. If this is another small thing I can do, then I'll do so gladly.
The Linda Norgrove Foundation sounds amazing. I'd not heard of it before.
I'm keeping my MP on her toes! I emailed her about Nowzad and Operation Ark yesterday morning. I'll email her about the women and girls of the Linda Norgrove Foundation this morning. That's what MPs are there for. Unfortunately, our MP here is notoriously not the best, especially at correspondence etc. But hopefully it'll do some good. If the email gets passed on, and if there are enough of them, from enough people, then they can't be ignored.
Best wishes to you, and thank you for the great work you're doing ❤️

Errno · 25/08/2021 06:37

Just bumping for anyone wishing to help rescue the two Afghan sisters who work for the Linda Norgrove Foundation - please tweet & email MP & share.

Errno · 25/08/2021 06:39

@WanderingFruitWonderer it feels so fruitless doesn’t it, just emailing MPs who never respond and not being able to do anything else to help.

Fernticket · 25/08/2021 07:25

Just been announced on BBC Radio 2 news that the Government will assist Pen Farthing with his charter plane if he can get to the airport. This includes the staff and animals. Hope he can get there.
Errno: I too will be emailing my MP about the ladies from the Linda Norgrove Foundation.

There'll be a reason they've moved the car, the taliban already have a load of our kit, probably not ideal to leave something stuffed full of our tech for China and the Russians to have access to, as they probably will. Blowing it up was probably risky in escalating the situation. Our troops that are out there are at very high risk, and their CoC isn't going to ask them to secure a vehicle unless its vital, unless the logistics and defence experts on here know otherwise.

Also commendable of him to be standing by until his staff can leave, there are thousands more staff left over there who don't have a loud, male voice to advocate for them, I hope there's the same energy for them as for him and his animals.

WanderingFruitWonderer · 25/08/2021 07:39

Oh wow @Fernticket that's great news. Let's just hope and pray they can all get to the airport 🙏

Errno · 25/08/2021 07:44

Thanks Fernticket. I have just been on the Linda Norgrove Twitter page and there isn’t very much activity. I’ve no Twitter reach at all so can’t help there.

Errno · 25/08/2021 07:45

Great news for Pen, the animals AND the 200+ humans that they have helped.

'As for the foreign office, I wouldn't trust any govt department, especially not one with the Tories in charge of it. They're a bunch of lying, manipulating, conniving bar stewards.'*

The bunch of 'lying manipulative conniving bar stewards' seem to have been working tirelessly to get it all sorted, I really hope the people all get out today the situation is getting desperate the footage from the airport is so distressing. I just hope we don't have Pen Farthing on TV all next week playing the hero. The government and military staff deserve all the praise if they pull this off, not him.

Good morning, well said…
SueSaid · 25/08/2021 08:22

Also, Iain McGill who is involved in it has said they "partied hard last night' when Farthjng found out they'd been successful.

Just so tone deaf. Who tf parties hard.

People are getting executed. If they get out having left it so very late because they want to take cats and dogs too they should act with some respect for others who can't get out. A sigh of relief is all that is required with a 'thankyou' to those facilitating it. I have a feeling the nutters on Twitter will have a welcoming party for them.

FedNlanders · 25/08/2021 08:23

I dont think it will be a job without implications to try and get everyone to the airport. I think we need to stop saying what he will and won't do and just hope everyone makes it safely. If there is any hint the animals or people can't go safely then it won't end well.

notimagain · 25/08/2021 08:36

There'll be a reason they've moved the car,

There will be, and MOD and others here [ wink] have explained why it quite probably wasn’t a case of the vehicle being moved instead of people…but as usual there are still gripes about those actually doing the hard work (and that includes some in the FCO as well the military).

Motherdare · 25/08/2021 08:55

I find it astonishing how this man has been allowed to hold the government to ransom on this. Considering the life and death situations they are dealing with everyday, it’s extraordinary the power the Twitter mob has. Ministers should not be wasting time responding to this. They assured this British man safe passage and he turned it down because he wanted his staff and their families to be allowed into Britain as well. Why? Has someone explained that these people working at a pet sanctuary are more deserving of a VISA to a new life in Britain than anyone else?

sadperson16 · 25/08/2021 08:59

Fucking dogs ? Are you insane. People, children, young girls. Worry about them not fucking dogs.

Errno · 25/08/2021 09:08

Kind of worried about them all tbh.

@JaniieJones @Motherdare @notimagain @sadperson16 Any chance you can support The Linda Norgrove Foundation getting their two female Afghan staff out, by emailing your MP, sharing their campaign on Twitter etc? Thanks ❤️

SueSaid · 25/08/2021 09:11

'find it astonishing how this man has been allowed to hold the government to ransom on this. Considering the life and death situations they are dealing with everyday, it’s extraordinary the power the Twitter mob has. '

Yes it has been totally shocking. People were evacuating from April and before yet Farthing has left it all to the last minute trading on his 'ex marine' status. Wallace and the gov have received constant hysterical abuse on twitter. The focus hasn't been on Afghans getting executed just this egotistical ex marine and his stray dogs. Utterly bizarre and crass in light of what is going on.

Peacrock · 25/08/2021 09:12

Yeah, I think there's a lot of ignorance in general about stuff like this.

@Errno I've emailed my MP, sadly I don't think it'll do much, but it's important we speak up for the women as, as usual the loud bloke who speaks the loudest is the one many are focused on.

SueSaid · 25/08/2021 09:17

Exactly! The knuckle draggers on twitter have no idea. Farthing does, as an ex marine (did he mention that..) he would have known there would have been a logistical reason behind it instead of joining in with the hysteria. Never mind, he's been partying hard let's just hope they don't mow anyone down transporting their dogs to the airport.

sadperson16 · 25/08/2021 09:23

@Erno,I have spent years, literally years supporting refugees and will continue to do so.I have corresponded with Linda's parents .

Errno · 25/08/2021 09:26

JaniieJones thanks for emailing your MP. Feeling helpless as unable to do much, but having read the ‘Starfish’ story yesterday I’ve just decided that any little action is better than nothing.

If anyone reading this can raise the profile of the Linda Norland campaign please help.

Kendodd · 25/08/2021 09:32

@Motherdare

You sound exactly like some of the people I've heard jumping up and down shouting "they're not coming here, were full up".

Can't you people see, this isn't about the animals, it's about the 200+ people attached to the shelter. The animals are a shield to try to get them out under. People are soft as fuck about animals and want to save them, this generates all sorts of publicity putting pressure on government to act, if they can get the animals out, that means they have a chance to get the people out. PF is a hero, he has a way out but is staying, risking his own life to try to get his staff to safety, and he's a fucking genius using the animals this way, I really hope he can pull this off.

Kendodd · 25/08/2021 09:39

Fucking dogs ? Are you insane. People, children, young girls. Worry about them not fucking dogs.

I agree. But the only way out for the 200 Afghans attached to this shelter is by clinging to the backs of these animals. PF has said if the can get everyone to the airport he'll abandon the animals there if necessary.

notimagain · 25/08/2021 09:45

if they can get the animals out, that means they have a chance to get the people out. PF is a hero

We will see…

I certainly hope that if he gets out and if he makes any money out of this then he considers forwarding some of it to Forces charities, given the assistance he has got and will get from many in uniform and the risks others may be exposed to evacuating his group…
