Today I stumbled across three other versions of Under My Thumb - Wayne Gibson, Del Shannon and Tommy Roe. I knew of the WG recording but not the other two. That's what made me ask this question.

I thought Gimme Shelter was the universally accepted best song though wholly because of Merry Clayton. So sad what those vocals may have cost her personally. She is legendary on this. Goosebumps.
