Don't know whether to go to hospital.

My went over on my ankle. Put other foot down quickly and my big toe bent underneath me. All my weight went on the folded big toe. Heard a distinct crack.

Big toe twice the size of the other.

Shooting sharp pains.

Can't place any part of foot on the floor.

DH says elevate and ice - which I've done.

Not sure if it's broken. 🙄

Just seen a triage nurse.

My blood pressure is 184/109.

Waiting for an ECG now. 🤔

Only came in because of my toe.

Your BP may be up because of the pain , hopefully it may expediate your treatment . @lljkk big toes need treatment if they are broken as they affect the way you walk and balance , totally different to other toes which can be easily treated at home .

lljkk · 14/08/2021 21:03

oh dear, did you have any known risk factors for high BP?

So sorry OP. Hope you have something to kill the time. It shouldn’t be a 6 hour wait when your blood pressure is so high.

Runkle · 14/08/2021 21:18

Could be the pain causing high BP?

MessyLifeCleanHouse · 14/08/2021 21:20

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you’re okay OP

NanaPorsche · 14/08/2021 21:25

@Runkle

Could be the pain causing high BP?
Hope so.

Status just changed to 7 hr wait. 😔

Wish I hadn't come.

Maybe I'll go home.

Not with blood pressure that high you won't!!

Abraxan · 14/08/2021 21:35

Surely with the blood pressure being so high you'll be seen sooner.

I went it with high blood pressure last year (higher than yours but yours is still very high) and I was seen very fast as a result.

Abraxan · 14/08/2021 21:36

And yes - you need to stay because you need to have your BP reduced!
High BP can be very dangerous.

Wombat64 · 14/08/2021 21:36

Big toes are crucial for walking properly, so best looked at properly. Weirdly, I was watching a YouTube vid about broken toes earlier in the week.

My BP is that high when in a hossy.

Seesawmummadaw · 14/08/2021 21:38

Don’t go home. Ask if they have something to elevate your leg on.

TokyoSushi · 14/08/2021 21:44

Oh no, don't go home! Hope tou get seen ASAP

Yellow85 · 14/08/2021 21:51

I’ve done this very thing too. Went to a&e, confirmed with X-ray. Sent home with no cast.

It was agony. It still hurts years later - can’t wear heels much.

NanaPorsche · 14/08/2021 21:51

I'm just thinking of my daughter waiting outside.

I'm a bloody rotten nuisance.

OP posts:
LollipopViolet · 14/08/2021 21:56

You're not a nuisance, you're getting the medical attention that you need. Hopefully you get seen soon and they sort the BP issue out.

CommanderBurnham · 14/08/2021 22:05

Send your daughter home. She can get you some things and get some rest. You can call her if you finish early.

Preserve Your phone battery.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/08/2021 22:07

The "crack" could've been a tendon snapping . Unfortunately a soft tissue injury can take just as long as bone to heal , even if you have got away with no fracture

You should get an off loading shoe if you don't get a cast

thesunwillout · 14/08/2021 22:09

Prob best to send her home.

I did 16 hours in a&e a few weeks back.
You just never know how long it will be or what you'll end up needing.
If she could get home for a sleep it would be best.

Hope you get x-rayed soon tho.

Good luck.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/08/2021 22:51

@lljkk

If OP's toe is broken... what will A&E do for her?
Anything from confirming it's broken and arrange for a boot, all the way to referring to orthopaedics for surgery.

And, apparently, pick up a very high blood pressure whilst they're at it.

NanaPorsche · 14/08/2021 23:34

Not been seen by a doctor yet.
😬

You could be there all night- send your daughter home!

MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/08/2021 23:43

Are you dehydrated? That can be one reason for a raised BP.

Toes are sadly too easy to break! I broke my little toe, very painful.
