Is there a song that instantly makes your heart leap?

I'm a huge music fan. Songs dictate my emotions a lot which might sound weird. DH is not a music fan and he totally doesn't understand the feelings a certain song can provoke in me.

So is there that one song that instantly touches your soul and provokes emotions??

Mine is Gary Moore - Still in love with you

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), Greenday

This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole. It was the first dance at my wedding - I wanted a fun, upbeat song that everyone would join in with quickly. Then when I was having my C section it came up randomly on the anaesthetist's playlist as we were handed my DD! I also have a lovely memory of dancing around with DD to the song when she was a couple of months old and it being the first time she really made eye contact and smiled at me. It's a bit of a cheesy song but really special to me now.

A few songs do this to me. The first one that springs to mind is Pulp - Do you remember the first time

Knittingnanny · 14/08/2021 22:50

Ooh loads of those mentioned so far. Music is so evocative isn’t it? I am instantly transported back to hearing these songs. Same with classical music for me
You’re a lady Peter Skellern
Til there was you Beatles ( and others)
To where you are Josh Groban ( and others, but particularly the 4 part harmony version by G 4)
You’re in my heart Phil Collins

Farevalah · 14/08/2021 22:51

Gordon Lightfoot - If I could read your mind
The Stones - Angie
Stevie Nicks Landslide

Young hearts run free

Knittingnanny · 14/08/2021 22:54

You’ll be in my heart. Phil Collins
And loads more!
I had a tea party for my 60 th birthday a few years ago and a friend out my favourite list on a stick and we had it playing in the background all afternoon, I think there were about 60 favourites! I’ve got a slightly shorter list of favourite classical music pieces, all of which bring back memories

ToomuchHeat · 14/08/2021 22:56

Teardrops by Lovestation UK Garage at its best!

merryhouse · 14/08/2021 23:01

Uptown Girl - Billy Joel - in fact practically every song on that album (I am such a child of the eighties)

The Test Match Special music (weird I know) - Soul Limbo by Booker T and the MGs, apparently

Summer Lovin' from Grease (did I mention the eighties?)

Patricia the Stripper by Chris de Burgh - not without huge amounts of ambiguity, but there we go

Shine Jesus Shine by Graham Kendrick (despite the Wrong bit at the end of the chorus)

Young Strephon, Act I finale from Iolanthe by Gilbert & Sullivan

cricketmum84 · 14/08/2021 23:01

@GordonsAlive85

Another vote for you'll never walk alone. Also, o holy night!
O Holy night!!

The first time I ever heard this song was in Meadowhall of all places. Christmas shopping and there was a choir there singing O Holy Night. I actually cried. Not like screaming in the cistine chapel type moment but a few quiet tears. DH called me a soft arse and refused to be seen with me 😂😂 god it's such a beautiful song.

KingdomScrolls · 14/08/2021 23:05

Some great songs on here, feeder just a day makes me feel sixteen, carefree, on top of the world and ready for anything

InterstellarDrifter · 14/08/2021 23:06

Broken Wings by Mr Mister. Saw me through some emotional times and gave me strength.

Arrowheart · 14/08/2021 23:06

Wichita Lineman. No other song has had such an impact on me. The words are just beautiful.

AleynEivlys · 14/08/2021 23:14

Tunnel of Love by Dire Straits sticks out, though there are so many.

Love Gary Moore. I was devastated when he died. ☹️☹️☹️

HollowTalk · 14/08/2021 23:23

Doesn't it make you realise how wonderful it must be to write even just one song that would make someone feel like this?

MissCherryCakeyBun · 14/08/2021 23:26

I'm going to make a Spotify play list of these as it sounds so perfect for long winter days when I'm working at home Smile

Knittingnanny · 14/08/2021 23:32

And those intros! Immediately take me back, Maggie May, that Bobby Goldsboro Summer song, Bryan Adams, etc
I would say my life could be described in song !

Knittingnanny · 14/08/2021 23:32

@HollowTalk absolutely yes!

Knittingnanny · 14/08/2021 23:34

Song played on a solo saxophone from Miss Saigon gets me every time as well

catinboots21 · 14/08/2021 23:36

@AngelsWithSilverWings

Something Changed by Pulp always makes me think of when DH and I first met.

Here comes the Sun - the Beatles - DH played this the day we brought or DS home when we adopted him. It really did feel like the sun had finally come out after ten years of fertility problems,

😍😍😍😍
Jellybeanlovehearts · 14/08/2021 23:52

I was listening to The Thompson Twins 'Hold me now' earlier today and that definitely stirred emotions. It's a nice song.
