And am over the moon. Had a gastric sleeve after 15 years of weight issues.

Am just amazed at the difference already in my body.

Hard work but I already know its going to be worth it.

Congratulations! It must be a relief that the weight is coming off, well done

purpledagger · 14/08/2021 13:41

Wow that's amazing. Well done

Derrymum123 · 14/08/2021 13:42

Great news and well done.

KatherineJaneway · 14/08/2021 13:48

Well done

Galassia · 14/08/2021 13:52

That must feel great already! Hope you continue to be a loser! In the nicest possible way!

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 14/08/2021 14:06

Well done.

My husband lost 13 stone after gastric sleeve surgery and is a million times healthier than he was. We paid private but it still annoys me when I read people saying the NHS shouldn't cover this sort of surgery.

VsgKitt · 14/08/2021 14:23

I went private too, albeit abroad. I am eligible on NHS but they said the wait could be upto 3 years

Wow! How though? Are you just not eating anything?

Feelingmardy · 14/08/2021 14:35

Well done!! It's great you found something that works for you after (I expect) years of trying various things to get on top of your weight. What are you most looking forward to as your weight loss continues?

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 14/08/2021 14:56

@VsgKitt where abroad? My husband went to Egypt Smile

MiniChocs · 14/08/2021 17:12

Well done you, I'm jealous as would love a VSG and am seriously contemplating it, but at 11k I need time to save.

There's a big long thread with other people who've had them in the 'weight loss' forum.

For the first 2 weeks I was on a liquid diet. So water, small amounts of apple juice, protein milk, protein powder, and cuppasoups.

Im now on a puree diet, so basically baby food and I can eat maybe 2 tablespoons

I went to Turkey. Surgery was £2.4k but I paid another 500 to have my gallbladder out.

TodayImostlyhaveaverucca · 14/08/2021 17:22

How often? Is that 2 tablespoons three times a day or can you eat more often?

Saggybaggyaggy · 14/08/2021 17:24

Woohoo! Well done. I did it two years ago and have lost just under 11 stone

VsgKitt · 14/08/2021 17:24

You eat little and often. Also still having protein powder/protein shakes and take liquid vitamins.

Gingerkittykat · 14/08/2021 17:32

I'm looking at going to Turkey for surgery and have seen a lot of happy people with drastic weight loss.

I wish you well on your journey.

TillyTopper · 14/08/2021 18:08

Well done OP! Do you not feel hungry through on just the puree? I know your stomach capacity is hugely reduced but does that solve the problem of hunger?

VsgKitt · 14/08/2021 18:45

The hunger hormone is Ghrelin which is is mainly produced by the cells of the gastric fundus, which is removed by sleeve gastrectomy. So you don't feel hungry like before. What I've experienced mostly so far is head hunger, psychological hunger because I'm so used to comfort eating.

VsgKitt · 15/08/2021 16:32

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 15/08/2021 16:37

wow! that's so much!

how many calories a day are you allowed?
and what's the biggest volume you can have in one go?

VsgKitt · 15/08/2021 17:10

I'm not calorie counting. Just trying to get 60g of protein and at least 1ltr of water.

I can eat 3 tablespoons at a push of puree
