And am over the moon. Had a gastric sleeve after 15 years of weight issues.

Am just amazed at the difference already in my body.

Hard work but I already know its going to be worth it.

Thanks for sharing op very interesting reading. Can't believe the difference in cost! Can I ask if you have any complications or issues with incisions would they be able to sort that for you here , as you obviously couldn't fly back to Egypt at the drop of a hat . It's something I'm looking into myself at the moment and I worry that if I had the op here id be better in case anything went wrong with my recovery. You look great and wishing you all the best& continued weightloss

I had a complication and the NHS was fantastic.

I basically had brown gunk coming from one hole. After xrays and ultrasounds they determined that some fatty tissue had been damaged during the procedure and a small chain reaction had started with fat cells breaking down. So I had broken down fat cells coming out of my incision! Weird.

No one was funny with me about going to Turkey. They were all just lovely and checked my stomach pouch for me during the ultrasound to confirm all was well.

I was being put forward for NHS waiting list so I don't feel guilty. Those small appointments cost nothing against the 12k cost the NHS would have had plus appointments etc

VsgKitt, I'm delighted for you. Can you say exactly where you went?

VsgKitt · 21/08/2021 19:10

I had my procedure at Godze hospital, Kusadasi, Izmir. My surgeon is Dr Fikret Beyaz who is absolutely wonderful.

@1forAll74

I don't think the NHS should fund these operations for everyone. Not for those very morbidly obese persons, who spend their lives eating everything in sight, and everything that is no good for them. Everyone should have the same understanding about their bodies, and what dangerous problems can arise with the constant eating of a very very bad diet all the time.
I used to be a bit sympathetic to this view.

But having seen how the food industry markets ultra-processed food at lower income families and children, and actively targets overweight people with shit processed 'weight loss' ready meals, and deliberately adds addictive ingredients, has changed my mind.

@SpindleWhorl, I am with you totally. Also, these procedures can actually save the NHS a lot of money in the long run as the need for treatment for diabetes, heart disease, gallbladder problems and arthritis, to name only a few conditions exacerbated by obesity, will not be needed by as many people.
