So this might sound like a ridiculous question but do I need to take bath towels?? We are obviously taking beach towels but is there usually bath towels provided? Also there is a dish washer. Will they provide a couple of tablets or should I take some??

We are staying in a self catering apartment and all these last minute things have come to me.. I'm usually in a hotel abroad and don't think of these things 😂

Any other last minute things or essentials i may not have thought of??!

Baths towels it usually says on the cottage info. It's usual but not universal.

Dishwasher tablets I say 50/50 on those.

Once I had a cottage with absolutely no bog roll (a cottage for 12). Usually you get your starting roll (per loo) but I always put a roll in after that.

Tea,coffee, milk (sometimes you'll get a welcome pack but not all the time)

megletthesecond · 12/08/2021 21:32

I'd take a couple of dishwasher tablets and a towel each just in case.

Inertia · 12/08/2021 21:36

Booking info / website should tell you whether they provide towels (and hairdryers etc).

Usually only a few DW tablets are provided so worth taking some.

Agree with PP about taking extra loo roll.

Shower cap?

Cookiedough123 · 12/08/2021 21:38

Booking info just says bed linen included and then mentions under floor heating in the bathroom 😂 helpful!!

Oh yes extra loo roll. Good idea.

I always take basics

Dish washer tabs wash up liq
Loo roll
Wash tabs if a machine but I rarely use them as most places have some in.

IncessantNameChanger · 12/08/2021 21:41

I would take tea towels, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid - the lot. It's a real pain if they arent there when you arrive. I also take salt pepper and vinegar as well.

ShaunaTheSheep · 12/08/2021 21:42

Definitely take enough dishwasher tabs for the week.
Washing powder if there’s a machine.
Sharp knife
Tea towels, kitchen roll, tinfoil, sandwich bags if you plan to picnic.

We took our chromecast, to stream to the tv.

NormanSicily · 12/08/2021 21:43

You never know, sometimes provided sometimes not. I always find there tends to be no cafetiere or decent knives, and often no washing up sponge/scourer/cloth. This holiday there was no bloody tin opener and a rotary dryer but no blinking pegs, sigh.

CloudPop · 12/08/2021 21:43

And a decent knife. Many UK self catering places don't provide one.

piglet81 · 12/08/2021 21:44

We stayed in a place recently that had no oven glove and only two tea towels (for a week’s stay, in a house sleeping 12). I was very Hmm

Bath towels were provided though.

littlelionroars · 12/08/2021 21:45

I was in Cornwall a few weeks ago and got caught out by no bath towels at our resort.

The booking info said 'bed linen provided' but made no mention of towels. We landed up using our beach towels for the first night and then buying some cheap ones the following day.

So my advice would be to to take some along.

DelphiniumBlue · 12/08/2021 21:45

I’m n a self catering cottage right now, and they haven’t provided all the things listed in the booking letter via Airbnb. They say it’s because of COVID, but although there are plenty of towels and linen, there was no salt, pepper, washing up liquid etc so I’d take anything that you don’t want to have to go out and buy.

NormanSicily · 12/08/2021 21:45

Yes, flask useful if you want to picnic, and drinks bottles.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/08/2021 21:45

All of the details will be on the website and there should have been an inventory with your booking confirmation.

NormanSicily · 12/08/2021 21:46

@MrsSkylerWhite if only it were that simple...

scully29 · 12/08/2021 21:46

So thing is, you can use beach towels in the bathroom, its cool they are the same thing, so if you are already taking the beach towels and you arent provided with bath towels, use your beach towels in the bathroom and your all good. Relax.

PotteringAlong · 12/08/2021 21:47

Also take washing up liquid and bin bags!

Wtfdoipick · 12/08/2021 21:48

Take a chopping board otherwise you may end up with those horrendous glass ones. If only bed linen mentioned take bath towels.

Anything left by previous occupants like dw tablets will be removed due to extra processes put in place due to covid.

Littlebelina · 12/08/2021 21:49

If it doesn't say Bath towels then I'd assume not

PortMerrionCentre · 12/08/2021 21:51

All good until you’ve been to the beach & your towels are full of sand … You need both sets of towels
scully29 · 12/08/2021 21:51

And piglet I live in Cornwall and own no oven glove and only 2 tea towels. Maybe thats how we role here? Why more than 2?

Don’t do this, you’ll get sand everywhere !
BunnyRuddington · 12/08/2021 21:52

We have forgotten oil for cooking with a couple of times so now I always take a spray oil. Pancakes are essential Grin

scully29 · 12/08/2021 21:52

Well i live in Cornwall and my beach towels are my bath towels, never noticed a problem. Got a washing machine though, maybe thats it?

Antsinyourpanta · 12/08/2021 21:53

I've just come to an air bnb
I brought washing up liquid, soap, antibacterial spray, cloth, teatowel, kitchen roll, salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee, milk,
I didnt bring dishwasher tablets as I wasnt sure if there was a d/w (there is).
