yet to be confirmed, but if this is right,

The Italian island of Sicily may have registered the hottest temperature ever recorded in Europe, 48.8C (119.8F).

No doubt the usual suspects will roll up saying this is all totally natural, and nothing to do with human impact on the planet

But I think most of us realise, we need to act decisively, and fast.

I am emailing my MP again, tonight, at ask what immediate actions the government are taking

@54321nought
Struck a nerve did I? You put your foot in your mouth saying that 13th C wasn’t warmer than present and that humans were “pre human” then and just can’t admit it can you?

burritofan · 12/08/2021 16:07

There’s every need for it. PlanDeRaccordement squats on every climate crisis thread spreading discord and disinformation; I’m longing for a discussion that doesn’t get derailed by their fucking bullshit, it’s exhausting. (Which is I suppose their goal.)

FreeBritnee · 12/08/2021 16:07

Why did you chose to have children if you are so worried about the future and disgusted by the human race?

Well I can’t opt out of being human, that’s what I am. If I could identify as a panda or a puma I’d happily give that a go, but sadly it’s homo sapien all the way. As for children, a biological urge is a very strong thing. Hit me at 35 abd I couldn’t shake it.

@ezrascatcus

How the fuck are people still managing to dismiss climate change as just another scare story?

Are they in denial or just incredibly stupid?

Are they in denial or just incredibly stupid?

Both.

It is frightening. I’m up in Scotland and our summers are getting hotter and we’re also getting so much rain - places are flooding much more frequently! I’m making sure where I buy my next home is not low lying and can cope with heavy rain etc!

ezrascatcus · 12/08/2021 16:24

Better that its warming up than cooling down

Cooling down is also a very likely scenario.

Kezzie200 · 12/08/2021 16:31

I fear a change will never be made. Why? Because COVID stopped many of the main guzzlers like flights and cruise travel and worldwide, but no attempt has been made to embrace this as an opportunity and support those who would lose accordingly but reshifting focus.

If they can't do it when it's handed to them on a plate, how on earth will they manage when things are back up and running.

Yes this is actually the goal of disinformation. You don't need to produce a compelling and truthful alternative argument, you just need to derail and distract and make the whole situation seem too complicated to try to understand.

I think a lot of people have gone too far down the rabbit hole of climate denialism to really engage with. You are never going to change their minds as long as there are all these crackpot blogs that they can copy and paste into their social media and chat boards.

no, you havn't read my post

I said that the 13th century was NOT warmer than now, that is disinformation.

I said that there have been times that were warmer than now, but those times were pre-human.

And the temperatures were not compatible with life.

Go back and reread what I said - you have misunderstood.

you don't strike nerves, @PlanDeRaccordement.

You 're just boring.

But on the other hand, in some ways quite useful, as you do show up how poorly informed and lacking in understanding climate -change deniers can be,

so please do carry on. you are welcome!
