Anyone else see lots of people buying bottled waters?

Like those 1 or 2 litre multipack bottles?

I've just been to Tesco express (it's tiny) and two separate customers were complaining that there wasn't any big bottles of water about

I thought that was a coincidence, but thinking about it, I keep seeing lots of people in Asda and Aldi doing this too!

I mentioned it to the guy at the till and he said he'd seen an increase for sure, though he wasn't sure why. Last time he saw it was during the first lockdown and they ended up restricting the amount you could buy at once anyway

I know people like bottles water for various reasons, and I have a friend who's DS won't have anything else due to his autism. But surely this is unusual?
I’m not refusing? The school have no issues with me sending in the water bottles I do? They don’t specify that it must be reusable? 😂 it’s like sending a child’s lunch in a plastic bag instead of a lunch box (not that I do that) but they don’t care what it’s sent in and my son says he’s teacher always throws it in the bin anyway! I did say that in the beginning of the thread, also found another thread of someone with the same problem but yeh it’s just me “not bothering” 🤣 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/1855828-Y7-and-water-bottle-leaking-in-bag-0ver-and-over-again?pg=2
Teacher is awful for doing that. It's his property.

Sainsbury's individual 500ml bottle of water went up to 80p earlier this week but are back down to 60p.

I'm guessing it's the single use bottle that teacher throws away after the dc leaves it there at the end of the day, not the reusable ones

Haha her we go now it’s because my child left it, no when it was empty the teacher put it in the bin and yes I mean the single use ones not the reusable as I’ve asked him to bring it home a few times (before I knew you weren’t suppose to reuse them) but he said as soon as he finished it the teacher would bin it, how would he know the teacher binned it if it was after he left 😑

She should be setting a good example about recycling Angry

Please buy a decent reusable bottle then problem solved

woodhill · 13/08/2021 13:48

I think you can reuse them anyway - I have done in the past, I'm sure it's a ploy to make you buy more.

Well I assume because it would be gone the best day. Ask him to say in future that his mum has asked him to bring it home so please can you not bin it. Of course you can reuse them. How could there be any difference between washing and reusing that bottle to a reusable with a sip top?

We use ONE bottle a day for school, I know people don’t dont drink tap water AT ALL and only use bottled water, they call it “council juice” and refuse to drink it, my sisters partner is like that and she has a constant supply of bottled water for when he comes round, we drink tap water at all other times. Maybe aim your frustrations at the people that won’t drink it at all because they do exist.
