A periwinkle blue, worn by Cinderella in the Ladybird book of my childhood.

I've never forgotten it, it's somewhere in my DNA now I think.

@wakinguptosunshine

Turquoise.
YES!! just saw your post after I wrote mine
PickAChew · 07/08/2021 23:06

It's a blue green for me. I bought some of this linen to make myself a tunic with and kept it out to stare at until I started. I can't take a good photo of it, myself, mind - far to blue but still lovely. It was December, when I made it, so the light was weird, anyhow.

Nighttime sea with phosphorescence. Never seen anything like it. Dhofar, Oman.

@OneMoreWish

The blue colour of lapis lazuli - love it , I have polished and unpolished and prefer the natural rock when the colour seems more intense.
Lapis Lazuli colour also one of my favourites
MorrisZapp · 07/08/2021 23:09

Oh you're all so wonderful 🥺

As a pp mentioned-so interesting that the majority of answers so far involve shades of blue!
Mine was (a peacock) but I wouldn't say blue was my favourite colour and it certainly doesn't feature in our home decor!

BlankTimes · 07/08/2021 23:12

Parrish Blue as per image.

OneMoreWish breathe out slowly via your mouth onto a piece of raw lapis lazuli and see its colour intensify.

The colour of her eyes still mesmerises me completely.

Or colours plural which is what makes them so special I think - the more you look, the more there are. Incredible.

That a Yves Klein blue is startlingly striking. I am though repelled by it. I can have really strong reactions to colours. Some almost have a taste and a texture to them for example, certain synthetic purple colours can make me feel sick. It’s bizarre.

The flower fairy tones I’m really drawn too. Especially the golden yellow background light on many of the illustrations.

Also, there is a car that has a dark berry pink colour option. I cannot think what it is but it smells of dewberry and tastes of Ribera ice lollies.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 07/08/2021 23:16

Omg @MorrisZapp me too! I loved it as a child and like you, it's ingrained. I adored that book. Still have them all in my parents attic.
I must get them back.

PizzaPiePizzaPie · 07/08/2021 23:17

A purple gown my sindy had that changed colour when you moved if.

gardeninggirl68 · 07/08/2021 23:17

I always chose blue counters for games,ludo,frustration etc

StorminaBcup · 07/08/2021 23:19

The turquoise blue of the Havasu Creek where it meets the Colorado river. We took a helicopter flight and it was just so vivid the photo doesn’t come close.

Perhaps you have synaesthesia? I do too (grapheme colour synaesthesia) and my reactions to colour are quite extreme. None make me feel sick, but I have very strong colour associations. I also dislike that Yves Klein blue, although it is striking.
Tulips15 · 07/08/2021 23:25

I had a doll when younger (late 80s, early nighties) its hair changed in the sunlight, it was a very vibrant purple!

BlankTimes · 07/08/2021 23:25

Labradorite, both the dark and the light blue shades, polished and unpolished.

The red earth and dust where I grew up combined with the very intense blue of the sky.

WolfFleeceSpotter · 07/08/2021 23:31

I also love shades of blue. I have a lot of it in my home.

My most favourite was a crayon I had called “periwinkle” when I was about 5. It wasn’t a crayola brand, but I absolutely loved it

Interesting-I’ll have a google. Thinking about it, purple makes me feel really uncomfortable and like I need to look away. I can’t explain it but that Yves Klein blue has a similar effect.

KhalliWhalli · 07/08/2021 23:36

Oh, I still have the Cinderella and The Party books! Loved both of those dresses. And the hello one in the party.

My favourite colour is the Arabian Gulf off the coast of Abu Dhabi.

Evenstar · 07/08/2021 23:37

I loved Cinderella’s dress in that book too. I used to get it out just to look at that picture.

KhalliWhalli · 07/08/2021 23:37

Hello = yellow.
