I love the smell of harbours or fishing ports.
Dover ferry terminal is my favourie. I've no idea what the smell is though!

justasking111 · 05/08/2021 23:12

Pipe tobacco reminds me of my lovely FIL we still miss him

Meme69 · 05/08/2021 23:23

The smell of the hospital neonatal intensive care unit that my babies were in for weeks. Something about the smell just calms me. Given they were 2 of the most stressful times of my life it is a bit weird!

BikeRunSki · 05/08/2021 23:26

The smell of my grandfather’s shed. Dust, damp and engine oil.

OrlandointheWilderness · 05/08/2021 23:27

It should be disgusting... my bf's armpit 😂! Not seriously BO, he always smells incredible. I have his shirt in my bed to smell him when he isn't with me!

Fieldsofstars · 05/08/2021 23:28

Cellars
Petrol
My cats head.

Fieldsofstars · 05/08/2021 23:29

Also the cold breeze on an autumnal morning.
It smells amazing and you just don’t get the same scent in the air any other time of year.

MintyGreenDream · 05/08/2021 23:30

seaweed

OrlandointheWilderness · 05/08/2021 23:31

@Lanique

Oh god this is embarrassing - but I'm half repulsed and half fascinated by the smell of my soggy wrist when I've taken my fitness watch off.
Right there with you. Something about the farming mustiness 😂
OrlandointheWilderness · 05/08/2021 23:31

*garmin!!!! Ffs!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/08/2021 23:31

Creosote.

Boots used to do a cough syrup that smelled and tasted of creosote - I loved it, but they stopped making it - maybe there aren’t that many of us who like the taste of creosote.

Babyroobs · 05/08/2021 23:33

When i was a kid my mum used to have big sacks of potatoes delivered and I loved putting my head in the sack and breathing in the earthy smell.

ichundich · 06/08/2021 00:07

petrol
shoe polish
tar
railway tracks
bicycle stores (new rubber)
fresh print
glue, obviously 😂
my mum's attic in the summer

samwitwicky · 06/08/2021 00:27

Petrol, petrol and more petrol

I also love that wet, earthy smell after a heavy rainfall in summer but I'm sure I'm not alone Grin

junipoor · 06/08/2021 00:33

@DaveGrohlsTeeth

T-Cut Calor Gas Stardrops My junior school swim bag. A newly opened pack of cigarettes. I don't smoke, but I love that smell.
Snap! With regards to the freshly opened cigarettes. I've never actually smoked in my life but love that smell

Petrol - just love it!

Get out of the car - large intake of breath. Fabulous smell.

Powaqa · 06/08/2021 00:57

Diluted jeyes fluid, but it has ro be in a metal mop bucket

RoundRainbow · 06/08/2021 01:21

The smell from a proper butchers, every time I walk past one I take in a huge sniff 😂

Freshly blow out match so good!

echt · 06/08/2021 01:58

Another one who likes creosote and seaweed.

The old-fashioned tar mix they used to use for roadworks in the UK when I was child. It used to blow up in bubble in the heat. Very satisfying to pop.

Cow Gum

carriehagshaw · 06/08/2021 02:03

My dog's mouldy popcorn smelling ears and feet.

My tummy piercing when it's a bit ripe Grin (sorry that's gross bit true)

Aquamarine1029 · 06/08/2021 02:16

Vaseline, especially a brand new tub of it.

Vellichor · 06/08/2021 02:47

Post offices and new tech (like when you get a new iPhone and first take it out of the box or a new games console when I was younger). Generally like a lot of new things- new carpet, new car, new build house, new trainers etc, and also stationery/paper things- books, glossy magazines, marker pens. I love the smell when you open a fresh tin of tennis balls.

Wishingwell75 · 06/08/2021 04:24

Cat's breath - such a treat when you catch a whiff!
Also, when you bury your face in their fur - if they want you to!
Kittens - they do smell differently than cats!
The smell of new shoes
Print in new books
Shoe polish
The amazing smell of Aquacell Ag silver leg dressings - when you open the packet but equally I knew someone who used to gag at the same smell!
There are four days a year when if you're lucky you can catch the smell of the change in weather, well it's more than that, the seasons but it's not a weird smell to like, granted.
The clean BO smell of a man you really fancy!
Most chemical, petrol type smells,
Creosote and paint
The plastic of a Wendy house
Rubber, footballs, trainers etc in a sports shop - used to have to go into them when I was pregnant!
The smell of a pavement that had been warmed by the sun and then rained on!
Dettol but not generic pine disinfectant 😁

Wishingwell75 · 06/08/2021 04:33

@larkstar - I love that you wrote that about your wife!
OP, I spent a few minutes trying to work out how you may be familiar with the smell of Dave Grohls teeth - dentist to rock stars, his wife or ex lover before I realized you were quoting a pp! 😁

Malin52 · 06/08/2021 05:14

Freshly printed leaflets or magazines. I bury my face in their opened pages. Sometimes warm photocopies too.

Hot water bottles

My scarf when Ive worn it too much and it needs a wash.
