Have not RTFT but oestrogen patches have recreated my waist and also smoothed out what felt like the PMs/hormone yo yo I used to be on in early teens and best of all got rid of achy joints. Mid 40s. I have been evangelizing to friends they’ve made such a difference.

EssexLioness · 11/08/2021 21:30

😊 well, I’m hoping it lasts but seriously this has exceeded my expectations. I was hoping to feel ok again but didn’t expect to feel half my age! And it’s less than a week ago since I started it! 😲

EssexLioness · 11/08/2021 21:33

@HappyHedgehog247 that’s great to hear. I’m on the gel but yes, if today is anything to go by I will recommend it to everyone I know. I can completely understand people being so reluctant to come off it…. The temptation to stay on it forever and be a turbo-charged granny is real!

I live in hope of seeing my waist again! 😊

MrsDThomas · 11/08/2021 22:40

Haven’t been here to read for few days but catching up!

I’ve been watching what i eat. Lighter meals, not bloated. But yesterday we had a roast dinner, 1st in a few months. Jesus, i felt terrible after eating it. Bloated, like IBS, gassy. Needed the toilet soon afterwards. That was a problem i had before.

Then better this morning. Salad for lunch. Then DD bought me a cake. Jeez, within the hour my belly grumbled and i was back in the toilet. I felt awful again.

It refreshing to eat light, and within 10 days my body feel better but reacts to something i havent had in a while.

Jackieweaverishere · 11/08/2021 23:11

@EssexLioness great news on the HRT!

EssexLioness · 12/08/2021 07:07

Thanks @Jackieweaverishere.
Just had my morning coffee and ready to start the day. Had a better night’s sleep after swapping some of my blankets arounds…. Removed. my weighted blanket which I love but doesn’t add warmth and has felt a bit stifling lately. Of course it could also be HRT or a coincidence too so will see what the next few days bring. At the moment I am sleeping in just a thin sheet and bedspread (our bedroom stays cool all year round but this seemed to be fine). I only woke twice in the night and didn’t spend the whole night taking blankets off, then adding them again. Woke up with a stiff neck and shoulders so will prob do some Pilates in a little while to loosen them up.
Breakfast and lunch plannd but need to work our dinner as I planned to do pasta but we had that last night so will do something different. Hope everyone has a good day

EssexLioness · 12/08/2021 16:36

Had a really busy, active morning today and it took a fraction of the usual time for my wake up coffee to take effect (weirdly I switched to decaf a while back but don’t usually feel with it until I’ve had a cup). Not done quite as many steps as tbh my knee is playing up and I don’t feel quite as buzzing as yeasterday. Still feel much brighter than usual though so hrt is definitely having a big effect.
Pitta pizza and homemade potato ŵedges for dinner tonight. Had tofu and veg stir fry for lunch, using some veg that needed using. Made a nice change from my usual salad and felt more hearty somehow. Hope everyone’s having a good day

JMAngel1 · 12/08/2021 16:46

@EssexLioness
Do you mind me asking which HRT you are on please? Is it Oestrogel and do you have progesterone too?

EssexLioness · 12/08/2021 17:56

I have oestrogen and progesterone tablets. Apparently you have to have the tablets as well as the gel if you still have your ovaries and womb as the progesterone protects them.

JMAngel1 · 12/08/2021 18:20

Thanks @EssexLioness
So is it topical oestrogen gel and utrogestan tablets? Do you just take the progesterone tablets for 14 days at the end of each cycle or do you take them daily?

ginsparkles · 12/08/2021 19:03

Hi all, had a good day today, swimming and a lovely walk around a walled garden then a swim. Had a ploughman's at lunchtime and left the bread, also didn't have my own cake even when daughter had one at lunchtime and at a cafe mid afternoon! I will admit to have a nibble or two of both, just to check they were ok!

Calorie intake will end up just over at 1378. But with plenty of exercise I'm not unhappy with that.

Glad to hear you have had another good day @EssexLioness !

EssexLioness · 12/08/2021 19:55

@JMAngel1 yes it’s the gel (Oestrogel). Stupid auto correct had changed it in my last post! I think some people take the progesterone for 14 days as i read it in the leaflet but I was told to take it once daily for 25 days then a 5 day break (maybe there are different strengths of progesterone 🤷‍♀️). The oestrogel you use every day. It rubs in quite easily.
@ginsparkles well done on your restraint. Sounds like a lovely day

EssexLioness · 12/08/2021 19:56

@JMAngel1 sorry, yes it is the utrogestan tablets I take (100mg)

Katekarate · 12/08/2021 20:11

Hi all, lovely to read the updates Smile

EssexLioness it's great the HRT is going so well.

My periods have been all over the place and I realised that's what was making me so hungry. But I did manage some exercise and no sugar today.

EssexLioness · 12/08/2021 21:24

Thanks @Katekarate, it’s really wonderful just to feel well after struggling for so long. I’m chuffed to bits ☺️
Well done on the exercise and avoiding sugar. I used to be a huge sugar addict and found it tough to cut down at first (now cut it out altogether and don’t miss it at all but it is so addictive when you are used to it)

EssexLioness · 13/08/2021 09:30

Good morning everyone! 😊 Done a 45 min run (well with short walk intervals in between as can’t run non stop yet), walked the dog, housework done and finished breakfast. Going to have a few mins on my iPad before jumping in the shower and then I have some tedious business paperwork to do which I have been putting off. Will prep dinner later… I was planning on making some veg sausages and veg parcels with new potatoes and cooking the on the BBQ but the weather’s gloomy so will prob end up in the oven instead

CakeandGo · 13/08/2021 10:39

Ugh I’m in the dieting doghouse.
I don’t know what happened, was doing so well and then made my way through half a box of chocolates last night. I just can’t have this stuff in the house because my will power is so low.
I have kept up with the exercise and drinking loads of water as well as eating plenty of fruit and veg so all is not lost.
Previously I would have written the week off or sometimes even the whole month!
Instead I’m going to do a long walk at lunch and chalk it up.

EssexLioness · 13/08/2021 11:19

@CakeandGo try not to beat yourself up. I would find it a real challenge to have stuff like that in the house. My big downfall is crisps. We just don’t keep them in the house at all, much easier that way.
Apart from the chocolate, it sounds as though you we doing all the right things and you have the right attitude. It’s just a blip, draw a line and move on.

ginsparkles · 13/08/2021 12:07

I'm with you @CakeandGo ! I can't have chocolate in the house, otherwise I just fall into them. One bad day won't ruin the week. I have allowed myself a day off the calorie counting each week and it seems to be ok so far.

EssexLioness · 14/08/2021 14:48

Hi, how’s everyone’s weekend going? Been relaxing at home today and did a little work in the morning. Got up did my 45 min run before walking the dog and relaxing with DH. Just got back from a walk in the village with DH which was nice too. We used to go with our dog but have to leave him behind now as he is old and it’s too far for him 😔 Clocked up over 13,000 steps so far today. Food all on plan and going well. I have a protein shake every morning but extra hungry today so had a slice of toast too, fitted into my plan though so I’m happy with that.

MrsDThomas · 14/08/2021 20:17

Went up snowdon this morning. Im an early riser so decided to have a walk up, and a run down. Not really hungry today so haven’t eaten much. Went for a 3 mile walk with my friend and her “grand-dog” before tea.

On the wine though. Just a couple of glasses. Im off for a 10k in the morning with friends

Had a good week diet wise. Stressed at work so i don’t tend to eat when stressed.

EssexLioness · 14/08/2021 22:40

@MrsDThomas wow, what an active and fun-packed day that sounds. And how lucky to live in such a beautiful area. Sorry work has been stressful but well done on keeping to your diet.

ginsparkles · 15/08/2021 08:20

Morning, second night out this week, swore I wouldn't drink.... it didn't go well!

Anyway.... today is a new day, off for a swim and will track calories. If I can maintain this week I'll be happy. But am honestly expecting a small gain.

The stupid thing is, my clothes all still fit. Today I put on my gym leggings which are a not generous size ten. How can my clothes fit and the scales say I'm over a stone heavier than this time last year???

LlamaofDrama · 15/08/2021 16:58

Hi everyone, congratulations to those with will of iron and hello to my tribe of the weaker-willed!

After a week away I'm about 4 or 5lbs up and haven't checked with the tape measure yet, that joy is for tomorrow. But on the bright side I've got straight back on it with my normal eating pattern, I've got 2 pilates classes a week booked for the next two weeks and then I'll book more, and I'm planning two cardio sessions a week at the gym as well. So fingers crossed the holiday was a temporary set back but the refreshed attitude will push me forward. We shall see.
