Does drinking alcohol make you feel sick?

imthetinpotman · 31/07/2021 21:43

Everytime I drink alcohol I feel sick the next day.
Today I was actually sick.
I had 1 cocktail in 1 bar
3 vodka lemonade (singles) in bar 2
2 vodka lemonade in 3rd bar
3 Malibu lemonade in last bar and a sambuca shot

It made me feel so sick but I ate before I went out and drank a glass of water when I got in.

My friend never feels sick after drinking
Does anyone else feel like this ?

I would if I drank that!

WorraLiberty · 31/07/2021 21:45

Well I would after 10 alcoholic drinks! Grin

But in general no, although I'll either have a couple of pints of lager or about 3 wine spritzers.

SpindleWhorl · 31/07/2021 21:47

I feel sick with everything except white wine. God knows why.

That's a lot you had!

Hadenough21 · 31/07/2021 21:48

That’s a lot of alcohol to be fair! I would feel sick if I drank that much

ElbowsandArses · 31/07/2021 21:49

Alcohol irritates my stomach and it can make me very sick (after two glasses of wine) - in the night and/or next day. Not surprisingly I don’t drink much. For me, meno related though even when I was younger drinking the amount you list would have had me puking but just cos that’s a LOT of alcohol.

imthetinpotman · 31/07/2021 21:49

I thought I would be okay as we were out 6 hours so we were drinking slow but no I've felt dreadful all day.
That's me done for the year!

Well yes if I drank that much because that is binge drinking.

Do you always drink so much?

No it doesn't make me feel sick as I don't drink that much. Maybe 2 or 3.

imthetinpotman · 31/07/2021 21:50

@ActonSquirrel no I only drink on nights out which is once in a blue moon.
Never drink in the house.
Just socially.

FreshFancyFrogglette · 31/07/2021 21:51

Yes, I would feel sick after that. I don't drink any more. But was stuck in a cycle of drink, regret, drink, for a long time!

ActonSquirrel · 31/07/2021 21:51

Well don't drink 10 drinks! No wonder you were sick.

I only drink socially too but a fraction of that amount.

Badabingbadabum · 31/07/2021 21:52

No, unless I drink a lot. From the amount of drinks you've listed there I expect you were sick because you were hungover.

mintylovely · 31/07/2021 21:52

That would make me vom and I drink a couple of glasses of wine four nights a week so not exactly unaccustomed to alcohol.

LubaLuca · 31/07/2021 21:54

That lot would make me queasy, no doubt.

I used to be sick after drinking fairly often when I was young, because I used to drink more than my body was happy to accept and I mixed all sorts of sweet drinks. It took me a long time to fine tune my imbibing.

MustBeTheWine · 31/07/2021 21:55

I'd be hungover the following day after 10 drinks. I hope you feel better tomorrow

imthetinpotman · 31/07/2021 21:56

I think my mistake was when I got home I had a pizza (at 2am) and it just lay on my stomach all night !
Weirdly I didn't even think I was drunk

A seasoned drinker would tell you don't mix the grape and the grain which is what you did. Good chance it will make you ill

elsaesmeralda · 31/07/2021 21:59

Just sounds like a hangover

AlwaysLatte · 31/07/2021 22:00

Not usually but I would if I drank that much!!

MissM2912 · 31/07/2021 22:01

That’s a lot and I would be dying. Now at nearly 40 I stick to either gin or wine.

HappydaysArehere · 31/07/2021 22:01

This is a joke ? Isn’t it ?

Iggly · 31/07/2021 22:02

Your mistake was the sheer quantity of alcohol. That’s an incredible amount over a few hours.

You were sick because you were poisoned by the booze 😂😂

Try not finishing with a shot and maybe having a limit of, say, 4 alcoholic drinks across the night.

Iggly · 31/07/2021 22:03

That’s a myth 😬 alcohol is alcohol
BakewellGin1 · 31/07/2021 22:09

To be fair I am similar to you. I might have one or two if I'm in the house now and then or with a meal, but generally I only drink when I'm 'out out' with friends socially.

I probably drank that amount last night.. I wasn't drunk just tipsy and was fine this morning other then the tiredness... I think your mistake was mixing drinks although I don't practice what I preach Grin

Apparantly milk thistle is helpful before you drink... Have a pint of water before sleep and that keeps the headache away... The next morning ready salted Crisps and flat full fat coke are my cure before it kicks in (I tend to go downhill as the day goes on)

toocold54 · 31/07/2021 22:19

I can drink a whole bottle of wine or 5+ vodka and cokes/lemonades but alcopops or cocktails make me feel really sick. I have had one drink before and I’ve been sick in a bar like I couldn’t handle my drink!
I don’t know if it’s the high sugar content or if they give me acid reflux or what but I’m never drunk I’m just physically sick.
