Anyone know what I do? I've managed to lose my brand new iphone (not insured - weep) this afternoon. I am supposed to register it lost I think, but my landline not working - so don't know how to call.... it's on voicemail, so nobody answering obviously. I don't know what to do!!!

hope you get it sorted op

02 Live Chat was my first thought but they just send you back to the call this number page - is driving me mad trying to find a way through it.

Sorry - I really didn't intend to drive you all mad. I'm 47 tomorrow, I should be able to handle this....

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/07/2021 18:50

and email the shops/train station that you can see on google maps, and the restaurant, it could even be there?

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:51

sometimes you have insurance that you are not aware of, ie. in your home and contents/barclay card etc.,

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:57

just discovered that there is Live Chat that isn't the 'Aura' thing on 02 - think this might help

Get someone (mother or DH) to send a message like:
“FINDER, PLEASE CALL 123456”
Short enough to show up on the Home Screen as soon as it’s switched on.
But anybody tech savvy would just go to your contacts or recent calls and phone “Mum”.

There is an Urban Myth that Apple can track any device, on or off, but I’ve never needed to find out.

TheDogsMother · 29/07/2021 19:04

Check your household insurance for cover also many bank accounts come with phone insurance.

honestogod · 29/07/2021 19:09

thank you @Sgtmajormummy - good thinking

is that what people do? funnily enough I keep my mum's number on there as can't bear to get rid, but I lost her a while ago, so they wouldn't get far doing that....

OP posts:
honestogod · 29/07/2021 19:19

I'm obviously not tech savvy - would never occur to me to do that

thank you everyone - I've taken action!!! Found Live Chat (which wasn't easy as they have this thing on there that looks like it is Live Chat but isn't), and they have helped!

OP posts:

have to put kids to bed but just wanted to say thank you everyone for support - much appreciated

Glad you have managed to get help.
I don't think most people would be able to the menus to call Mum.
Years ago before phones locked, a Train Driver called me (last number redial) from my friends phone and told me where it was being left.

BTW I've not got the heart to delete my DDad either.

Hi OP

Sorry you've had such a struggle. I know you said you don't have Facebook but it may be worth asking someone you trust who does, to see if they have a local Facebook page for the area you lost your phone in. Where I am people often post in these local groups if they find one rather handing into shops etc. Also you could put up a missing post so if someone does find it they'll know it's yours. It seems that people presume everyone is local and active on Facebook.

Fingers crossed for you
